School Store Kick-off- Monday
Dear Houston Elementary Families,
We are excited to share a fundraising opportunity that helps support our students while making everyday shopping easy! In the past, our fundraising efforts have allowed us to eliminate the cost of field trips and other activities for our families. To continue making these opportunities accessible to all students, we need to rebuild our account—and you can help!
Houston Elementary is now participating in SchoolStore.com, a simple way for our school to earn funds through purchases you, your family, and friends are already making. By shopping online through SchoolStore.com, a portion of sales will go directly to our school.
Getting started is easy! Students will follow these three simple steps:
1️⃣ Wear the lanyard they receive from their teacher home on Monday.
2️⃣ Send email invitations to friends and family, asking them to support our school.
3️⃣ Bring the lanyard back to school on Tuesday.
Learn more about how it works by visiting:

Thank you for your support in making Houston Elementary a place where all students can experience enriching activities at no cost to families!

PTA Breakfast with Buddies
Please bring any special grown up in your life for breakfast March 21 at the elementary school. We’ll have donuts and muffins, coffee and hot cocoa.
This is the first official fundraiser for the elementary school PTA. Breakfast will be at cost to the adults. You can buy items individually or even take home boxes of freshly made pastries!
$1.50/pastry or $5/take home box of 4.
Kids get breakfast for free, as usual.
Because this is our first time hosting this fundraising event we’d like a general head count.
Please RSVP, if possible, by March 19. You can still come if you don’t RSVP, but we just want to try to make sure we don’t run out of food!
Recommended Book of the Week
🌟 Book of the Week: Draw the Line by Kathryn Otoshi 🌟
This week, we’re celebrating creativity and cooperation with the stunning wordless picture book Draw the Line! This powerful story shows how a simple line can bring people together—or push them apart. Without using any words, the book sparks imagination and teaches valuable lessons about friendship, teamwork, and making amends.
Ask your child:
🖍️ What do you think the story is about?
🤝 How do the characters solve their problem?
🎨 Can you create your own wordless story with pictures?
Let’s keep the creativity flowing at home!

Snack Break- Grades 1-6
In an effort to reduce milk waste and manage costs more effectively, we are making some changes to our milk distribution at snack time for students in grades 1-6. Moving forward, we ask that families who wish to purchase milk for their children at snack time complete the attached form. This will allow us to distribute milk more accurately and ensure that funds are collected appropriately.
Please take a moment to fill out the form and indicate which of your students you would like to receive milk during snack time It's important to note that students receive a free carton of milk each day during school breakfast and lunch. However, milk is only free at lunch if the student takes the school meal. Otherwise, students in grades K-6 will be charged $0.60 at lunchtime for their milk.
Milk distribution at snack will begin September 9th, 2024. We will add students to the list and milk will be delivered to students during their scheduled snack times.
Cost per milk $0.60:
- Quarter 3- 1/21/25-3/21/25 (42 school days)= $25.20
- Quarter 4- 3/31/25-5/28/25 (40 school days) = $24.00
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to make this process more efficient.
Kind regards,
Angela McQuinn
