Central Jersey Group 1 State Championship
MHS Track and Field continued their historic season over the weekend at the Group 1 Championships.
Professor CEO led the way by winning the high jump. He was perfect through 6-6 with no misses. His jump ties him for first out of all performances from the weekend. His season best of 6-7 puts him in 6th place out of all jumps this season across the state. He will continue his quest for a Meet of Champs State Championship on Wednesday.
Trip Freitag battled it out in javelin placing 2nd with a best throw of 180-0 and earning himself a spot at the Meet of Champions.. His massive throw was the 6th best in the state across all 6 groups from the weekend.
Rian Sanders rounded out our Meet of Champion qualifiers with a 2nd place in discus with a throw of 157-0, a personal record for Rian, placing him 21st in the state. Trip Freitag earned his 2nd MOC qualifying spot with a 4th place finish. He comes in at 23rd in the entire state with a throw of 155-4. All 3 athletes will compete down at Pennsauken on Wednesday for an individual state championship.
Other notable performances include a 6th place medal for the girls 4x4 made up of Emily Chey, Michelle Miga, Haisha Lasluiza, and Kailey Seawright. Their time of 4:13 smashed their previous school record.

As part of the Community Health Needs Assessment, Healthier Somerset, RWJSomerset, RWJBarnabas Health, its hospitals, affiliates, and community partners are conducting a Community Health Resident Survey; your input can help shape future programs and services. This survey is an opportunity to share your experiences, opinions, and priorities to help shape the future the communities’ health in Somerset County. The survey is confidential and does not ask for the respondent’s name or identifying information. It is available in 8 languages: Arabic, simplified Chinese, English, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, and Yiddish.
Comfort Zone Camp
Comfort Zone Camp serves children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, primary caregiver, or friend. All programs are offered at no cost to families! Their programs provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can have traditional camp fun, while at the same time acquiring tools to help them cope with their loss. Since 1999, CZC has helped over 24,000 children.
Enrollment is open and space is available:
October 25-27 – Camp Mason, Hardwick, NJ
· Accepting children ages 7-17
· Free of charge
· Travel scholarships available!

Food Assistance
The Manville Food Pantry will be open the second Saturday of each month at the Faith in Action Church at 228 S. Main Street. Please make sure to bring your ID and a bag.
Feeding Hands is also offering assistance the fourth Saturday of each month at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 34 South Third Avenue. See the flyer for dates and more details.

Apply for Homeowner Flood Buyouts
New Jersey homeowners can submit buyout applications online, in English or Spanish, through the Blue Acres program from the Department of Environmental Protection. Blue Acres will approve buyout requests based on need and funding eligibility requirements.
Apply for Homeowner Flood Mitigation Help
New Jersey homeowners who are in flood prone areas and are interested in elevating their home to reduce their risk of flooding can apply for the Mitigation Assistance Program (MAP). MAP helps homeowners cover construction costs for property mitigation against flooding damage, including home elevation. MAP may also provide temporary rental assistance during construction. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Help for Homeowners in Financial Distress
New Jersey's Emergency Rescue Mortgage Assistance (ERMA) program provides financial assistance for eligible homeowners who have experienced a significant decrease of income or increase of expenses due to COVID-19 and have been unable to remain current with their mortgage payments.
Eligible homeowners can apply for up to $75,000 per household to cover mortgage reinstatement assistance and other eligible housing related costs, including delinquent property taxes and HOA dues.
