Behavioural Expectations
Kōrero māori i ngā wā katoa
The Kura expects the very highest standards of behaviour from our tauira as is described in Te Aho Matua.
The kura is committed to ensuring a safe, harmonious and non violent environment for all. The kura takes a zero tolerance approach to violence and bullying of any form. Whānau will be notified if their tamaiti and their behavior raises concerns at kura.
It is the Kura view that all tauira are akin to being brothers and sisters, please reinforce this messaging at home with your tamaiti, that we are a whānau - there are to be no relationships at kura.
The kura will employ consequences to address behavioural issues should it be required; we expect total support from whānau.
Whānau appreciate that kaiako have little capacity, time or resourcing to address consistent behavioural issues whether they be minor, medium or major. The Kura operates a three strike warning system as a condition for continued enrolment at this kura, this applies to all tauira. In any instance where warnings have exceeded three strikes it may be prudent of the board to exclude or expel a tauira from our kura.
Everything begins in the home 'Ko te Kura hei Kāinga, ko te Kāinga hei Kura' and as a kura we wish to focus our energy on building on the platform set at home; working hard to accentuate the positives and help our tauira to overcome adversity and challenges.
Smoking or Vaping
Smoking or vaping on school grounds is illegal. Any tauira caught will be subject to serious consequences.
Please support the kura by talking with your tamaiti and ensure they do not bring vapes or cigarettes to school.
Cellphones
No cellphones are permitted at kura at any time.
Should whānau need to contact their tamaiti during kura hours, please do so by contacting the main office on 09 883 5116; the tari will ensure a message is passed on to your child.
The kura expects whānau support in upholding this regulation.
School Uniform
Please ensure tamariki are wearing the correct school uniform everyday.
Personal Hygiene and Grooming
Please ensure our tamariki are adhering to high standards of personal hygiene, taking care of their grooming requirements and issues regarding body odor.
School Van
Our kaihautū wēne are volunteers and we appreciate their tautoko transporting tauira to and from kura everyday.
Please ensure your tamariki adhere to the ture of the kura when on the school vans including kōrero i te reo Māori i ngā wā katoa.
Failure to adhere to any and all instructions from Whaea Marge or Whaea Teremoana will result in losing the privilege of riding the kura van.
For whānau utilisng the school van please communicate directly with Whaea Marge whether your child will be present or absent for the day.
Tauira will not be dropped to any address other than their main place of residence. Please communicate directly with kaihautū as whānau requests for children to be dropped elsewhere through word of mouth by children will not be accepted - the kura is not providing a taxi service.
Please remain vigilant with tickets to ride the school van - it is a privilege to ride the school van not a right.
Absent from School
For any absences from kura please be respectful of the kura and kaimahi by lodging any absentees via the SKOOL LOOP app on the day your tamaiti is absent.
Poor attendance will be referred to truancy services.
Any ongoing instances of absenteeism may require re-evaluating a tauira and whānau's ongoing involvement with our kura.
Addressing Concerns
Our kura is committed to ensuring a safe, harmonious and non violent environment for all.
For any matters relating to your child please raise these concerns in the first instance with kaiako; most matters can be addressed at the lowest level possible when all facts and details are presented and worked through.
For matters unable to be addressed at the kaiako level they will be referred to the tumuaki for consideration.
Under no circumstance should a parent or whānau member threaten or stand over another person or child.
Dialogue and discussion to resolve conflict are precepts within Te Aho Matua, as a whānau we must emulate this every single day.
Abuse, threats and violence have become the ‘default’ for addressing conflict, this will not be tolerated or perpetuated at kura, please support us instilling this mātāpono within our tamariki T.A.M Te Ira Tangata 1.2 … Ko ta ngä matua, ko ta te whänau, ko ta te kura hoki, he mea awhi, he mea whangai, he mea whakaako i te tamaiti kia tupu ora ai tona katoa i roto, i te tika me te maungarongo.
