Queen of Apostles School
Term 4 Week 6 - Thursday 16 November, 2023

Term 1 Week 3 - Thursday 20 February 2025
Dates to Remember
Leadership Mass
We are really looking forward to the Leadership Mass at 9am next Tuesday (24th Feb) in the church. At this Mass, the Year 6’s will be presented with their leadership and committee badges. Year Six parents and other community members are invited and welcome to attend this Mass.
I am really looking forward to working with our student leaders this year as they play a huge role in the running of our school. I thank Miss Moro for the work she has done to prepare the students.
Removal of Eucalyptus Tree on Annexe Oval
I would like to inform you about an important decision regarding the large eucalyptus tree on the Annexe Oval. Recently, the tree has been dropping branches, posing a potential safety hazard to our community.
After a thorough assessment, our arborist has recommended the removal of the tree to prevent any accidents or injuries. The safety of our community is our top priority, and we are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
CEWA has emphasised that the safety of our community is the most important thing. We understand that the removal of such a tree may be concerning, but please rest assured that this decision was made with the utmost consideration for everyone's well-being.
Looking ahead, we are also planning for the future. The arborist has recommended new trees to be planted in place of the eucalyptus tree. These new trees will not only enhance the beauty of the Annexe Oval but also contribute to a sustainable and safe environment for years to come.
Parking and Drive-Thru Arrangements
With a number of new families to the school this year I would like everyone to be aware of our parking and drive through arrangements at the front of the school as the safety of our children is of paramount importance.
- Vehicles will enter via the middle driveway on Tribute St East.
- If you wish to park and leave your car to come into the school, please turn to the left and park in one of the bays adjacent to the Early Learning Centre or use the marked roadside bays outside the school.
- When exiting the car park, you will do so at the exit closest to Vahland Ave.
- If you are only dropping-off or picking-up, then please veer right and enter the drive-thru area. In this area you may not park or leave your vehicle unattended - it is strictly drop-off or pick- up only!
- When exiting the drive-thru section you will use the exit closest to Tudor Ave.
- Children waiting to be picked up are to wait on the verandah, under teacher supervision, and when they see their parent’s car enter the drive-thru, they may proceed down the steps at either end of the ramp and wait on the footpath adjacent to the bay where their parent has pulled up.
- Children should enter vehicles from the curbside only to avoid passing vehicles.
Faction Swimming Carnival
On Thursday 27th February the Faction Swimming Carnival for our Year 4 to 6 students will be held at Beatty Park Leisure Centre in North Perth. The students will depart from school at 9.30am and return to Queen of Apostles by 2.00pm approx.
It will be fantastic to see a great crowd of parents at Beatty Park cheering our students on.
Pupil Free Day
Please remember that Friday February 28th is a Pupil Free Day. Our staff will be taking part in a Religious Education Professional Development Day.
Monday March 3rd is also a public holiday (Labour Day) so you will have an extra-long weekend to enjoy with your family.
Student Engagement, Safe Behaviour and Wellbeing Plan
At the end of last year we developed a new Student Engagement, Safe Behaviour and Wellbeing Plan to help build a safe, supportive and responsive learning environment for all students in our school. Using the Berry Street Education Model, the plan supports a preventative, positive, student-centred, school-family-community approach in which consistency is the key. I encourage everyone in our community to be familiar with the plan that is on our website. You can also access the plan by clicking on the link below.

P&F Welcome Sundowner 2025 - Friday 21st February
The Welcome Back to School P&F Sundowner for all families will be on tomorrow. It will be held on the grassed area near the undercover area and will begin at 5.00pm. There will be a sausage sizzle, ice cream van, and we will be doing some painting for the 'Blue Tree Project' (see P&F section for more details). It promises to be a great way for our families to get together and start the new school year. So, get your picnic rugs ready for what will be a fun evening catching up and seeing the children having a great time!
Code of Conduct - Staff, Parents & Community Members
The Catholic Education Code of Conduct establishes minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision-making to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members within the CEWA community. The Code of Conduct also shows us how, as a community our behaviours are a collective work that each day builds social justice into the life of our schools. Pope Francis insists that “true social justice is impossible if the human person is not the centre of concern”.
The following 12 statements outline the expectations of all staff, parents and community members:
1. You act safely and competently.
2. You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
3. You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
4. You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
5. You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
6. You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
7. You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
8. You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
9. You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
10. You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
11. You act reflectively and ethically.
12. You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being.
Volunteering
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
