Youth Art Month at CalvART Gallery
Congratulations to Kasey Crews, Connor Curry and Tyasia Mackall who will each have a piece of art displayed for Youth Art Month at CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick. The reception for families will take place on March 1st from 1-3pm and gallery hours are Monday - Saturday from 11am-4pm. All are invited to stop into the gallery during March to see the artwork of talented artists within CCPS.
Meet our terrapin!
Our LFI (Learning for Independence) program is raising a female terrapin named Swim Shady! Each year, Ms. Bonalewicz and her students "adopt" a newly hatched terrapin from Chespax to raise during the school year. Swim Shady is kept in a temperature-controlled tank in Ms. B's classroom. The class collects data on Swim Shady's measurements as she grows. She will be released in June near the location where her egg was collected last year. This program allows terrapins to grow to a healthy and more survival size before their release in the Chesapeake Bay in June. The Diamondback Terrapin is the Maryland State Reptile and a species native to Calvert County.
Lovebug candy grams 💕
Thanks to staff and students for helping to share a little love, kindness, and a sweet treat to others via a candy gram. Our little fundraiser earned $47 for the Student Activity Fund.
