CIS Weekly Updates

Our 2nd annual Turkey Trot was a huge success! Thank you to our parent volunteers who made it possible. The students enjoyed the snacks, and you were a big help with handing out tickets as students ran their laps. If you want to see some pictures, please check out our CIS Rocks Instagram account.

On Thursday, we have our family ornament painting event and our family game night. Family game night will incorporate educational games and gift card prizes. Our title tutors will coordinate the game night and have Title I information available. Both events are in the cafeteria, and families are welcome to join both activities from 6:00-7:30. If you plan to attend, please register for EACH event soon.

School attendance is essential at CIS. Research shows that students who miss 10% (17-18 days) or more days of school are less likely to be successful. That is just two days a month, and it adds up quickly. Students are more likely to feel connected at school when they are here regularly. Please do your best to get your student to school each day. Sickness will happen, and we understand. If you ever need support, please contact me or your student's counselor. We are here to help.

Our first Chess Club for Session #2 is Tuesday, December 3rd!

• Students will meet in my classroom (room 208) from 3:30-4:10pm
• Students may bring a snack of water & pretzels
• Students should have a ride to pick them up at 4:10pm. Students will exit out the main entrance by OJ Work.
• If you have not paid already, please send in the $15 fee to join Chess Club at your earliest convenience. (Cash, Check made out to Wadsworth City Schools or PaySchools account).

• Meeting Dates: December 3rd, 10th, 17th, January 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, February 4th, 11th, 18th

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

We hope that you all are as excited as we are to hear our CIS Holiday Choir Concerts! Students have been working very hard and we are excited to perform for a live audience. Here is a little information to help with specifics for our concert evening. All this information is also being sent home on paper with your child and will be sent in the choir remind groups as well.

5th Grade CIS CHOIR Concert Reminder

Date: Tuesday 12/17/2024 at 6:30 pm

Location: CIS Auditorium

Arrival:

• Students please arrive no later than 6:20 pm to the CIS Auditorium. Please leave your coats with your family, and find your spot on the risers. Please dress as nicely as you can, with things you have at home. The concert is FREE and no tickets are required.

Dismissal:

• We will be asking students and families to exit immediately following the concert at approximately 7:00 pm. We need to clear the risers and the audience seats in ten minutes to make space for the 6th grade choir and their families coming in. This will also help greatly with parking. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

6th Grade CIS CHOIR Concert Reminder

Location: CIS Auditorium

Arrival

Please plan to arrive at 6:20 and come to the cafeteria at WHS. If you arrive earlier because an older sibling has an earlier report time, students should stay with their parents/guardians until 6:20. Mr. Cobb, Mrs. Goddard-Halicki, and Mr. Hastings will guide students to their seats beginning at 6:20.

Dress

There is no uniform, but all students should plan to dress nicely. Please make sure that all attire meets the school dress code!

Additional information

All students MUST bring their instruments home after school on Monday.
We cannot guarantee access to CIS before the concert.

Please bring a music stand if you have one.

The holiday season can be difficult for those experiencing the loss of a loved one. We will be offering a GRIEF WORKSHOP on December 18th during your child’s lunch/recess block.

During this time, we will eat lunch and make a special ornament.

C.I.S. Families,

We are partnering with Wadsworth FISH to collect items to GIVE to people in our community. We are collecting “BEAR” essentials! If you would like to participate, you can send in any of these items: deodorant, dish soap, and/or toothpaste. Your child might come home with a “tag” as a reminder if they want to talk to you about donating. We will collect these items in the atrium between Tuesday, December 3rd and Monday, December 16th.

Our attendance clerk, Mrs. Long, is the contact person for calling off your student and any change of dismissal plans throughout the day. Please call the Attendance Line to reach her and leave a message. The phone number to her desk is 330-335-1481. We recommend you let the attendance desk/teacher know when your student will be absent, leaving early, or arriving late. Letting us know when your child will leave early allows us to be prepared for when you arrive. We ask that all end-of-the-day dismissal plans be made by 2:45 p.m. Thank you for your efforts!
