A successful week two is now in the books. Thank you to all the families and staff that participated in our virtual Curriculum Night on Thursday evening. If you were unable to make it, please check in with your child's teacher if you have any questions.

This week's update is chocked full of tidbits of information. A few items to note:

• We continue to lean into families to complete screeners on time. I know this is easy to forget each morning, so please continue to consider ways to help build it in as routine. (See section below)
• Health Department guidance and visuals are included in the link(s) below. The filters established by the health department allow us to keep doors open as long as possible.
• Our dismissal procedures continue to improve. Thank you to families of car riders that have their family numbers ready to display! Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Before 7:50 (1st-4th gr) & 8:50 (Kindy), you must complete your child's daily screener. This will need to be completed EVERY MORNING prior to arrival on campus. The QR code and the hotlink below provides direct access. We follow up and contact families every day which

• QR codes are on backpacks/transportation tags.
• Strategically place the QR code someplace visible at your home and make it part of your morning routine. (We sent home multiple hard copies on Monday)
• You may also want to bookmark the screener on your computer or phone.
• Copy and past the screener link into your phone calendar.

ZCS and the Zionsville Diversity Coalition partnered to create a list of mentor texts that support our elementary adopted literacy curriculum. Books donated will be placed in our elementary classrooms for teachers to use and to offer our students mirrors (seeing themselves), windows (seeing others), and doors (opportunities to learn about differences) because in ZCS, EVERYONE BELONGS!

COVID Policy for the 2020-21 school year:

Cripe Photography has instituted a "No Contact" policy for school photos. Our photographers will not be in contact with the students, therefore will not be fixing hair, collars or other clothing. Photographers will try their best to have the student fix what is needed.

From Dr. Robison's Update:

Bus Capacities Require Pre-Registration: Implementing social distancing on buses has reduced our capacity. Thanks to everyone who assisted with this issue by accepting some transportation responsibility this semester. Please note that a pre-registration call is required if your child has not ridden the bus and needs to check capacity for your area. Transportation can be reached at 317- 873-1237.

Wanna Talk Snow? Yeesh. Can you believe I pulled out that four-letter word? Snow is not the only reason for a school delay call. Power outage, fog, and other things can lead to what we knew in prior years as a two-hour delay or school cancellation. Due to our many scheduling accommodations for CoVID-19, we will NOT HAVE ANY TWO-HOUR DELAYS until further notice. If a situation arises that requires a delayed start or school closure, we will instead go to an all virtual/online school day. Thanks for making note of this change. Child Find is the process for locating, identifying, and evaluating individuals with suspected disabilities who may need special education services, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. This is the responsibility of ZCS regardless of whether a parent affirmatively requests an evaluation. ZCS provides a Free Appropriate Public Education to any child who qualifies as having a disability, in accordance with federal and state laws. ZCS is responsible for locating all children ages 3 through 22 years of age with a suspected disability who reside within the boundaries of its district. With early identification and intervention, frustration and academic failure can be prevented, which in turn creates a positive learning experience for students. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), which encompasses academics and/or social and emotional learning, is an essential component of the child find process. Utilizing screening assessments, the ZCS team members identify students in

need of intervention, implement action plans, and monitor the response to the targeted interventions. In addition, the evaluation referral procedures in ZCS provide the framework to refer students with suspected disabilities for evaluation.

Speech Assistance Program

The Speech Assistance Program is designed to provide support to students with single sound articulation errors that are not age appropriate within the general education setting. Following the MTSS approach, this program allows for early identification and treatment of mild articulation disorders so students receive assistance without having to be identified under special education. The Speech Assistance Program is a three-tiered system in which progress is monitored to determine if additional supports are needed. If adequate progress is not demonstrated, a referral for evaluation will be prompted to determine eligibility under special education.
