π PE (Gym) Reminders
All Students
- Proper footwear is required to participate in PE (gym) class
- Running Shoes needed
- NO Crocs, Birks, Boots, Skate Shoes, or Socks, etc.
Junior High Students (Grades 6, 7, 8 & 9)
- Proper gym strip required
- Changing for PE is expected every class
Learning Services πΎ
The Learning Services team provides support for students academically, social emotionally, and behaviorally. Our Educational Assistants provide specific interventions for literacy and numeracy skills, executive functioning skill development, social skill building, in addition to in-class support with day-to-day learning. Our team is working to develop our body regulation space with a 3-part sensory circuit, which includes an alerting stage, an organizing stage, and a calming stage, before returning to their learning environment. We are always eager to welcome parent volunteers to support student reading development from Grades 1 through 5.

π Veteran's Food Bank Drive
Our Grade 3's are going to be collecting food for the Veteranβs Food Bank!
- Grade 3 students have delivered a box for food donations to classes.
- Cash donations will be collected by classroom teachers and then forwarded to the Food Bank.
- They also have set up food donation boxes around the school for any food donations brought in.
- This food drive will run through to Nov. 8th
Thank you, grade 3, for taking on this leadership opportunity!
The CVSS Calgary Food Bank supports all military and frontline emergency personnel regardless of whether they are retired or currently serving.

π PALS π¬
Playground Activity Leaders in Schools
Grade 5, students have volunteered to be a part of PALS (Playground Activity Leaders in Schools)
- These volunteers will go out during our younger Husky recess at 12:05 and help organize fun and inclusive games for students.
- Your child can find a PAL on the playground by looking for their bright yellow vests and big smiles!

𧡠Looking for Textile Donations!
The Junior High textiles class is looking for donations!
If you happen to have any of the following items gathering dust at home, we would love to take them off your hands:
Buttons (any size or colour)
Clean, unwanted, or "worn out" clothing items, especially jeans (to practice repairs or "upcycled" into new items. Example: "Old " adult-sized jeans or cotton shirts that have holes or signs of wear are welcomeβwe can turn them into stuffed animals and scrunchies.
Fabric Scraps (cotton weave, not stretchy/knit!) for practicing hand stitching or for larger projects
Notions: straight/dressmaking pins with coloured heads, multipurpose thread in all colours, hand sewing needles, elastic (1/4" or 1/2"), seam rippers, polyester fill for stuffed toys, etc.

3. Picture Retake Day - November 6th
Picture retakes will be held on Wednesday, November 6th starting at 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for students who were absent or wish to have their portraits taken again. Any students NOT scheduled to attend that day, and wish to have a picture taken, please drop in by 11:00 a.m.
