How parents can help
ASKING FOR HELP
Asking for help and speaking up are not always easy skills for students. While parents can advocate for their student - and should when there is a need - they can also teach their students to advocate for themselves.
Continue to have conversations with your student about what they are learning in school and about school life in general. If your student needs help in a subject, encourage them to talk to the teacher directly. You can even role play this scenario to practice. Remind your student that you have their best interest at heart and they can always come to you if they need help communicating with a teacher or friend or simply navigating relationships.
KINDNESS
While being kind can be an innate quality, it can also be learned and practiced. Help your student understand how their words and actions can promote kindness. In this technological era, continue to have conversations with your child about cyberbullying. Here is a video resource to watch with your student and help start a conversation on this topic.
Media Center Volunteers
School volunteers are one of the greatest assets schools can have. They enhance the working experience for the staff and learning experience for the students. We, at Teasley, have been fortunate to have some of the best volunteers over the years!
We currently have an immediate need for volunteers in our Media Center (library) on Wednesdays from 9AM-2:30PM. Volunteers are needed to assist students with check in/out of books. Please use this link below to fill out a volunteer sign up if you can spare an hour or more on Wednesdays to help your school.
