We had a wonderful week at Sanborn and we are looking forward to another one next week!
On Tuesday, we had a wonderful All-School Meeting where we began rolling out RULER, our social-emotional learning approach. RULER helps students develop emotional intelligence by Recognizing, Understanding, Labeling, Expressing, and Regulating emotions. We introduced the Mood Meter and began discussing the Charter, which will guide our work in this area. Below, you’ll find more information about the Mood Meter to support conversations at home. I will continue to provide updates about RULER in upcoming newsletters.
On Friday, we held our first Cultural Climate Committee (C-3) meeting, where we had a great discussion on the district equity audit, which is available on the website. We also explored ways to be more inclusive with both our parent and student community and the challenges of being culturally responsive. We meet once a month, and we encourage all who are interested to join. Our next meeting is on November 7th at 8:15 AM. Please reach out if you would like more information.
Looking ahead, Wednesday brings more excitement as *Ball in the House*, an a cappella group sponsored by the PTO, will perform for the whole school. Our 5th graders will also get to participate in special workshops with the group. You can learn more about Ball in the House [here] or watch a preview of their performance [here]
On Thursday, the Fire Department will visit our kindergarten students in the café. This is always a favorite event for our youngest learners, providing them with both fun and important safety lessons.
Lastly, our new Friday dance song is the "Cupid Slide." Have fun practicing together at home!
We look forward to all these wonderful activities and another great week ahead!
As always reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Bus Reminders
Bus drivers are only allowed to drop students at their designated stop. Students may not be dropped at a different stop even if they have a note.
Bus drivers cannot drop any Kindergartner off with a parent being present.
Volunteering At Sanborn
Also, as a reminder, CORI Forms need to be filled out every school year to volunteer and participate in school activities, such as chaperoning a field trip. If you would like to fill it out at home before coming over, here is the link to print the form: CORI FORM
