Welcome Back
Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
Welcome back, College Park Elementary Tigers! 🐯 We’re thrilled to kick off what’s sure to be an incredible school year filled with learning, growth, and leadership. Our teachers and staff welcomed students with warm smiles, setting the tone for a fantastic start to an empowering school year. During our traditional Welcome Walk, parents enjoyed breakfast with their leaders and walked them to class. The halls were filled with our school pride in uniforms ready to show our leadership in our dress and presentation. We also jumped into our Leader in Me modules, ensuring every student has the opportunity to locate & showcase their leadership skills. Families and students had a blast at our Back-to-School photo booth. Check out some of the memorable moments from our first week back below! 📸✨Follow us on Class Dojo & IG for more.

iReady Assessment Monday & Tuesday
i-Ready assessments for scholars in grades K-5 are scheduled
Monday, August 19th (Reading) and Tuesday, August 20th (Math).
It is essential that all scholars are present and on time for these assessments. If your child is absent on either of these dates, make-up assessments will be held on August 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
How You Can Help:
We ask that you partner with us to ensure your child is prepared and ready to do their best. Here’s how you can support them:
Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep: Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the assessment.
Provide a Healthy Breakfast: A full, nutritious breakfast can help them stay focused and energized.
Encourage a Positive Mindset: Remind your child to try their best on each question. It’s okay if they don’t know all the answers—getting about half of the questions correct is expected.
Promote Patience: Encourage them to be respectful of their classmates who may need more time to finish.
Math Preparation: Remind them to use paper and pencil to show their work during the math assessment.
This Year We Are...
Empowering a Legacy of Leaders
College Park Elementary kicked off the first few days of school with an exciting focus on our Leader in Me Academy Lesson! This year, we're weaving these powerful principles into our daily routines, empowering our leaders to thrive both academically and personally.
As a leadership school, we utilize two key frameworks:
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People—which equips our scholars with essential leadership skills and a shared language for creating a supportive and positive school environment
- The 4 Disciplines of Execution—which guides us in setting, tracking, and achieving our academic and personal Wildly Important Goals (WIGs). We're excited to see our scholars grow as leaders this year.

Important Updates, Reminders & Policies
90% of our Prek-5th Grade Leaders are in Uniforms
Thank you to the parents and community of College Park Elementary for your support in embracing our new uniform policy. Over 90% of our students dressed in their uniforms daily, we're building a stronger, more unified school spirit together. We are still striving for our goal of a 100% implementation of our Uniform Dress Code. Having our leaders look and feel as a unified leadership school is an important part f our success. We have issued uniforms for those in need and will continue to contact parents for uniform violations to see if we can assist.
House Sorting Day
Which house will our new leaders join? We are busy getting the magic wheel ready and finishing up our final plans to ensure all of our leaders have a house! Our new Prek-2nd grade students will be sorted and our new 3rd-5th graders will be spin into their houses. Can't wait for you to see the fun.
Check out our HYPE REEL on Instagram!
Late to School Arrivals
School doors open at 7:10am and after 7:40am all Prek-5th graders are marked tardy.
Parents sign their leader(s) into school after 7:40 am. Our support staff are there after 7:40am to provide any assistance to address your needs to assist with improving on time arrival. We emphasize the importance of punctuality and regular attendance for your leader's academic success. Arriving on time sets a positive tone for the day, supports their life long leadership skills and helps maximize their learning opportunity.
Leadership Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind.
I make plans in advance
I set goals for myself
I think about how choices impact our future
I do meaningful work.
Daily Uniform Dress Code Policy
At College Park Elementary, It’s essential that all scholars wear their uniforms each day of the school week, as it helps create an environment of equality and focus, and growing together. Dress-down days will be announced later in the school year, but for now, we ask that all scholars adhere to the uniform policy.
Uniform Policy
- Returning students should wear their House color polo with the College Park logo or their House team t-shirt, paired with khaki bottoms.
- New scholars, Pre-K & Kindergarten scholars who have not yet been sorted into a House, should wear a gray or white polo until they receive their House assignment. Once sorted, they will join their peers in proudly wearing their House color polo or team t-shirt with khaki bottoms.
*If there is any assistance needed in obtaining the appropriate uniforms, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at College Park Elementary. 470-254-8040. We’re here to help ensure that every scholar is ready to succeed!
Please take a moment to read through the Fulton County Student Code of Conduct. Additionally, all 5th-grade scholars are required to sign the Student Code of Conduct in Infinite Campus. This step is crucial for acknowledging understanding and commitment to our school’s expectations. Student Code of Conduct

Our recent Town Hall meeting was a fantastic success, as our students took the spotlight to represent their houses and introduce our new scholars to the house system. Students learned how they can earn points to contribute to their house’s success. We also took this opportunity to review important policies, procedures, and key points from the Student Code of Conduct. It was a great start to the year, fostering school spirit and ensuring everyone is aligned with our community standards. Check out some photos below.
