News From The Office
I hope you are all doing well after another round of storms passed through the area. Our new teachers had their first day today, and it was great to officially kick off another school year at Arbor View.
We're excited to announce that we've added a fourth section for both 5th and 2nd grades for the 2024-25 school year. Anna Prinz will be teaching 2nd grade, and Casey Riewaldt will be teaching the new 5th-grade section.
Our entire staff will be back for their first day on Wednesday, August 7th, and we can't wait to see everyone at Open House on August 8th from 5:30-6:30 PM.

Cell Phone Expectations 24-25
As was shared with all families in an email from Elkhorn Public Schools on July 24, updated cell phone expectations will be implemented at all EPS schools for the 2024-25 school year. Links to our student handbook and the EPS email that was sent to families can be found below.

EPS Mass Messaging System
EPS and individual buildings use a parent messaging system called SchoolMessenger to send emails, phone calls, and text messages to parents sharing district information, monthly updates about building happenings, and weather-related school closings. To ensure receipt of these updates, please verify that all contact information listed in your parent PowerSchool account, including phone numbers and email addresses, is up to date and correct.
Additionally, this system allows recipients to “unsubscribe” from its mailing list; however, by “unsubscribing” you are completely removing your email address and phone number from both District and building lists. If you choose to unsubscribe, you will not receive any communication from your child’s assigned school or the EPS District. If you accidentally unsubscribe or decide you would like to begin receiving emails again after unsubscribing, contact your building secretary to change your communication status.
EPS Text Messages
EPS utilizes text messages to efficiently share important information with parents, including weather-related school closings and bus route delays. To receive EPS text messages, please text “Yes” to 67587 to opt in.

1st Day of School Information
We are very much looking forward to the first day of school. It will be here before we know it.
Starting at 7:55 AM for grades 1st-5th, students will come directly into the building. Parents will need to remain outside. If you are planning on walking your child up to the building, you'll need to park in the parking lot or on the street where allowed. Please do not park your vehicle in the drop-off lane.
The first day of school always looks a little different. Please read the following details for the first day. We are simply trying to manage first-day chaos while keeping the safety of all students and staff in mind.
- 1st and 2nd Grades: Students will meet at the main entrance of the school building (Door 1).
- 3rd and 4th Grades: Students will meet outside of Door 14, which is the entrance on the south side near the gym.
- 5th Grade: Students will meet outside of Door 10.
Beginning on the second day of school, all K-5 students will meet outside of the main entrance, weather permitting. Walking Club starts at 7:55 AM. Please do not drop off children before 7:50 AM.
- Kindergarten: On the first day, Kindergarten starts at 9:00 AM. Please wait until 8:50 AM to arrive. Kindergarten teachers will be outside to greet students. On the second day of school, Kindergarten students will meet outside the main entrance to get started with Walking Club.
- Preschool: Preschool teachers will meet the students outside near the preschool entrance (Door 2). Morning students shouldn't arrive before 8:20 AM and afternoon students shouldn't arrive before 12:20 PM.
Arbor View Visitor Access Procedure
To ensure the safety and security of our students and staff, all school doors will remain locked during the school day. Visitors can gain access through the main entrance using the security camera/access panel. Please follow these steps:
Request Access:
- Push the button on the security panel.
- Wait for the office staff to request your identification.
Provide Identification:
- State your name and the purpose of your visit.
Enter the School:
- Once you hear the door unlatch, enter the building.
- Proceed directly to the office.
Sign In:
- Sign in on the visitor sheet.
- Take a visitor badge.
Sign Out:
- When leaving, return to the office.
- Sign out and return your badge to it's proper location.
Enhanced Security with Sallyport System: To further enhance our security measures, Arbor View has installed a sallyport system in the main office. This controlled entry system ensures that visitors must pass through an additional layer of security before gaining access to the school. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement this important safety feature.
Dropping Off Items: If you need to drop off something your child has forgotten, please bring it to the office. We will ensure it is delivered to your child, helping to minimize classroom interruptions.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a secure and efficient environment at Arbor View.
Arbor View Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
To ensure the safety and efficiency of our drop-off and pick-up process, please follow these guidelines:
Arrival and Departure:
- Students should begin exiting vehicles once the vehicle has pulled as far forward as possible.
- Staff will be outside to assist with drop-off and pick-up. Please pay attention to their signals for where to pull up and when to move forward. Staff members are there to direct traffic to help ensure safety for all and to keep things moving in an orderly fashion.
- Drivers are to stay inside the vehicle at all times in the drop-off/pick-up lane.
Student Safety:
- Students should enter and exit the vehicle curbside.
- Students should use the crosswalk to cross to the parking lot and should never cross in front of traffic in the drop-off lane.
Traffic Flow:
- Left Lane: Traffic should always be moving other than when stopped at the safety patrol crossing and should never stop to let a child out of the car.
- Right Lane: Pull forward if there is space available. Children can be dropped off anywhere along the sidewalk as long as they get out on the curbside.
- Graphic: The graphic below will help explain the traffic flow and expectations.
Line Etiquette:
- Please wait your turn in line and do not cut the line to make a drop-off or pick-up. Everyone is here for the same goal and reason; please be mindful and respectful of that.
- If your child is unable to unbuckle/buckle themselves, please practice this at home. It is important that they can do this independently.
General Guidelines:
- Be patient and a positive role model for our children. These procedures are in place to help maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- It is unlawful to park in a handicap stall without proper licensing.
Communication:
- Please make sure to share these procedures with anyone who may be dropping off and/or picking up your children.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a safe and efficient process for all.
