2024-2025 Bobcats

Starting Monday, before students walk through the metal detectors they will take their Chromebook out of its carrying bag and hold the Chromebook above their head as they walk through the metal detectors. The Chromebook bag should be in their backpack. The only thing that should be carried above their head will be the Chromebook itself. After walking through checkpoint, students will go to the courtyard where they will put their Chromebook back in its bag to carry it. If students have an instrument case or lunchbox WITH A METAL THERMOS that should be placed on the table to be searched.

ALL students are required to wear an ID and a belt each day as well as tuck their shirts in.

Bottoms must be khaki, navy or black.

Skirts, skorts, dresses/jumpers do not require belts.

Collared shirts must be red, white, navy, or black in color.

Students may wear a PBIS shirt instead of a polo.

All pimple patches must be clear or skin tone color.

Earrings are allowed in the ears only. No visible body piercing jewelry is allowed anywhere on the body.

According to the BESE Rulemaking docket, revisions to attendance definitions were adopted by BESE on 7/20/24.

These revisions specifically define 3 types of absences. This is state law: La. Admin. Code tit. 28 § CXV-1105.

Our district handbook will need to be revised and reposted once we bring the changes to our VPSB Board Meeting on 8/15/24.

Please read the Compulsory Attendance law definitions of Excused, Unexcused and Suspensions carefully. Parent notes for illnesses are not acceptable as "Excused Absences" unless the absence falls under the parameters defined by "Excused Absences or Extenuating Circumstances", however, such absences do require specific documentation and approval by the principal or designee.

If your child's paperwork is incomplete, letters will be going home this week with your student stating they will no longer be allowed to attend school at Erath High beginning on Thursday, August 22..
