TVHS Trivia
A new feature this year -- TVHS Trivia. Would you like to know more about TVHS? The staff had an opportunity to do just that. During the 12 days before Winter Break, the staff got to have some fun learning about some of the history of TVHS. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. There will be a new Trivia question each week.
TVStrong
Hey Eagles,
Celebrating What It Means to Be #TVStrong!
Every week, we spotlight students who exemplify the core values of strength, teamwork, respect, nobility, and goal-setting—the heart of what it means to be TVStrong. Teachers and staff make time to recognize these outstanding individuals with positive referrals, celebrating their character, actions, and contributions. Thank you for being shining examples of excellence Eagle in our community.

Arts and Cultures of Mexico
The Arts And Cultures of Mexico Spanish Enrichment Class is currently studying the history, art and social movements of the conquest and colonization of what would become New Spain/Mexico and the rise of Mexican identity. As part of our learning process students are creating a map documenting key places, people, events and the influential and emergent art styles of the period. We will add to the map throughout the unit. Students will also complete an art project representative of the art styles of this time. The class is conducted in Spanish and is open to Heritage Spanish speakers, Dual Language Immersion students, English Language Development Spanish speakers and upper level traditional Spanish students. This course is available for concurrent enrollment college credit.

Did you know January is known to be the coldest month in the Northern hemisphere and the warmest in the Southern hemisphere? Google
January is designated as National Blood Donor Month. Below is some information on giving blood.
The minimum age to donate blood is 17 years old in most states, but some states allow 16-year-olds to donate with parental consent. Other requirements for donating blood include: Weighing at least 110 lbs, Being in good health, and Not having donated blood in the last 56 days. There are additional height and weight requirements for donors 18 years old and younger, and for high school student donors. Eligibility requirements are in place to protect the safety of donors and patients. The FDA establishes these requirements to ensure the blood supply is safe from bloodborne diseases and to protect patients from anything in a donor's blood that could harm them.

ASVAB Test
Are you interested in going into the military after high school? And possibly knocking out some graduation requirements along the way? Sign on up for the ASVAB Test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
The ASVAB Test will be held at TVHS on Friday, February 7th from 9am-12pm.
The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students, and is a required test in order to join the military (although anyone can take it, if you want to enlist or not). Taking the ASVAB does not automatically sign you up for the military, but is a great step to take if wanting to pursue enlisting.
Please reach out to your counselor for more information, or follow the link to sign up (https://forms.gle/cYL6cFBYD26ihyL27). You MUST sign-up before the end of January in order to take the test.
Seal of Biliteracy
Seniors interested in earning the Seal of Biliteracy:
Be aware of testing:2/27/2025 at 1:00-3:50
2/28/2025 at 8:30-12:15
And 3/4 /2025 (Make-ups only for students with legitimate reasons times TBD).
Students do not need to be registered in a World Language currently to test. The test is available in 100 or so different languages. Students already in Spanish 4 and 5 know about the test and will be registered.
Please see Ms. Maheras-López by Monday 2/3/2025 for registration.
