Principal's 2025 Welcome
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff & Students,
Welcome to the 2025 Academic Year.
I hope you had a restful holiday and wish you and your families a Happy New Year.
A special welcome to the new families and staff joining our College community, especially those with students starting Kindergarten and Year 7.
COLLEGE 35 YEAR CELEBRATION
This year, we celebrate 35 years since the foundation of Ursula Frayne Catholic College. Over these decades, our College has built a strong reputation in both the local and wider community. While our College is 35 years old, our educational history spans 126 years in Victoria Park. With the amalgamation of St. Joachim's and Xavier College in 1984, Ursula Frayne has flourished into an outstanding school in Victoria Park and the Perth Metropolitan area.
Our 35-year logo draws inspiration from the book "Under the Southern Cross" which captures the history of the College up until 1990. This constellation represents guidance, hope and a sense of belonging. By featuring the Southern Cross in our celebration logo, we honor our heritage and the enduring values that have guided our journey. Each of the five stars of the Southern Cross represents one of the five values our College is committed to - Compassion, Excellence, Respect, Hospitality and Justice.
Last year was productive and our improvement agenda was significant. Many key initiatives introduced will continue into 2025 with the aim to consolidate and allow the changes to settle and evolve. However, we will not stand still in 2025 and our improvement agenda will continue, albeit at a different pace.
In this 35th year, we will continue enhancing our two campuses. We will advance the reFRESH Frayne project and embark on a master planning process for both campuses. This includes utilising the rooftop garden, creating new classroom spaces at the Joachim site, enhancing courtyards on both campuses, increasing shade, and rationalising the use of spaces. In 2024, we enhanced our café and catering services, and we will extend this service to the Xavier Campus in Term 2. We will also finalise the name of our café in the first weeks of term 1.
As we improve our facilities, we also aim to improve their upkeep and care. There will be a focus on student litter, an ongoing issue, using Laudato Si as inspiration to take more responsibility in caring for our local and global environments.
NEW HOUSE STRUCTURE
I am excited about the introduction of the new K - 12 House Structure. At the Xavier Campus, a Friday afternoon House program will be introduced, and at the Joachim Campus, a student-inspired House program will provide opportunities for house activities across all aspects of College life. This includes bringing to life House mascots, symbols, and values.
In Week 3 we will reveal and launch the House signs, symbols, and mascots, which will continue to evolve and grow in personality and character over time. These symbols and mascots are all student-inspired and represent the values, stories and actions of our House patrons.
New House shirts will also be introduced at the start of Term 3, alongside a weekly community day where students will wear House uniforms on each campus.
COMING UP IN 2025...
At the Xavier Campus, we will introduce three-year-old Kindy, and for our Year 12 students at the Joachim Campus, we will introduce a three-day overnight retreat program.
We will give special attention to the development of the Performing Arts from K-12, particularly Music. This includes a complete review of Performing Arts facilities and programs on both campuses. Additionally, we will continue to broaden our pathway options for students by developing the on-site provision of the Health Certificate Course through our relationship with AMA.
On Wednesday, our Year 12 students will have their commissioning evening which is a wonderful celebration recognising the Year 12 cohort as the senior leaders of the College as they enter their final stage of secondary schooling.
The 2024 Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) results are outstanding with the College continuing its trend of excellent outcomes in all key performance areas and achievement across all aspects of WACE. The 2024 results placed Ursula Frayne as a top performing School in the state.
On behalf of all our staff, I wish all students and families all the best for 2025.
For your children,
Mark Antulov | Principal

Celebration of Excellence
Congratulations to the 2024 Year 12 students who have continued to support the College’s reputation as a high-achieving school. A snapshot summary of these outstanding results is below. We will also celebrate the high performing students and awards winners at our Academic Excellence assembly to be held in Week 2 of Term 1.
In 2024 our students excelled in their outcomes across both general and ATAR pathways. These outstanding results are the collective effort of all: the teachers and staff from K–12 who have supported our students, the untiring commitment of parents and extended family and last but not least, the students themselves. They are results everyone in our community can celebrate and our students are to be proud.
Our median ATAR placed the College amongst the highest-achieving academic schools. The UFCC Median ATAR was 90.5 placing it well above the State Median of 83.8.

College Value 2025
Compassion is understanding and caring when someone is hurt or troubled. It is wanting to help even if all you can do is listen and say kind words. You forgive mistakes. You are a friend when someone needs a friend.
In 2025 we ask our community to respond to the needs of others in the most warm hearted way.
"Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience." (First Letter of Paul to the Colossians 3:12)
