The Family Income Inquiry Form opens up on July 2, 2024. Please complete it online before school starts. Click on the button below to be taken to the website.

All students receive a hall locker after they turn in all their completed back-to-school forms. There will be designated days to collect the forms in an organized manner, usually during PE class. After that, we collect forms during lunch.

We have special school combination locks for hall lockers. There is a $5 one-time fee for a lock, that is payable only once while a student attends WJPS. These are special locks with a key hole that lets administrators unlock the lock if a student is having trouble.

LOGO TOPS ARE REQUIRED:
WJPS logo tops come in many styles: t-shirt; long sleeve or short sleeve white blouse/oxford shirt; long sleeve or short sleeve white, navy, black or gold polo (a royal blue polo is available exclusively from Lands’ End); white or navy turtleneck; navy sweatshirt (zip-up or pullover) or navy cardigan. The WJPS logo must be visible at all times.

Purchase tops with the logo on them already from Lands' End or Ideal Uniforms. You can purchase other items from them with the school logo, but only tops are required to have the logo. Jumpers are available to purchase with the logo.

Ideal Uniforms​​​​​​​

DePhillips Sports at 33-05 Francis Lewis Boulevard, 718-445-5420. For a small fee, they will add the WJPS logo to a top that you have purchased at a store of your choice. The top must be a crew-neck t-shirt or a polo shirt in the following colors only: navy, black, white or gold. Or a button down white shirt. The sweatshirt must be navy or black.

BOTTOMS:
Pants/skirts/shorts: khaki, navy, black, or grey. No jeans, denim bottoms, leggings or jeggings.

PE UNIFORM:
For Physical Education classes students must wear a WJPS logo t-shirt shirt and mesh shorts or sweatpants that are navy blue or black. Sneakers or tennis shoes that tie are required for PE.

Flip-flops, slides, backless shoes, shoes with lights, caps, hats, and sunglasses are not permitted.

School will start at 8:05 am, and students are expected to be in their first period class by then - not just coming through the door.

High School Entrance & Exit is through the main doors on 192 Street.

Middle School Entrance & Exit is on Francis Lewis Boulevard. There is a sign on the fence at the entrance.

The doors open at 7:30 am and students go to the auditorium until approximately 7:50 am. During that time, they can have a cold breakfast of cereal, bagel, yogurt, milk, etc. They can also go to the cafeteria for a hot breakfast.

After that, they can go to their lockers and get ready for class.

Please do not double park near the school.

Arrange to drop-off or pick-up your child a block away from the school building.

MetroCards are issued during the first few days of school. Students should make arrangements to get to and from school during that time (either with their own MetroCard, car pooling, etc.).

The Q28 and Q76 stop on Francis Lewis Boulevard by the school

The Q31 and Q16 are a couple of blocks away

The Q13 is available with a transfer at Northern and Francis Lewis Boulevard

Breakfast:

Cold breakfast is available every morning in the auditorium or a hot breakfast in the cafeteria

Lunch:

The whole middle school goes to lunch at 10:30 am, and the whole high school goes at 12:54 pm.

Recess is during the last half of each lunch period. Students go outside to the playground. In poor weather, they stay in the cafeteria or library to read, play games, and socialize.

Students have a few minutes to travel in between class periods. They do not go to their lockers after every period. They go to their lockers in the morning before school starts, before and after PE class, before and after lunch, and at dismissal.

As a grade 6-12 school, WJPS follows the NYC DOE high school calendar. On the DOE calendar, our Parent-Teacher Conferences are as shown for high schools, not middle schools. Our clerical day is in the winter, not the summer.

NYCSA accounts are for all parents who have a child in a NYC school. Please work with your current school to register for your account. WJPS will not have your registration codes until September, and we will not be able to help you with NYCSA until then.
