The chapter received the Golden Star Banner Award. This is the highest award a chapter can receive from the state association.
The chapter also had two teams compete in FCCLA STAR Events. We proudly announce that the chapter has two teams receiving OVERALL 1ST Place in State and National Qualifiers receiving a bid to Seattle, WA in June.

~edTPA SUBMISSION TIME!~
edTPA is a performance-based, subject-specific assessment and support system used by teacher preparation programs throughout the United States to emphasize, measure and support the skills and knowledge that all teachers need from Day 1 in the classroom. For each handbook field, the placement is a Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade classroom. edTPA is a subject-specific assessment that includes versions for 28 teaching fields. The assessment features a common architecture focused on three tasks: Planning, Instruction, and Assessment.
Aspiring teachers must prepare a portfolio of materials during their student teaching clinical experience. edTPA requires aspiring teachers to demonstrate readiness to teach through lesson plans designed to support their students' strengths and needs; engage real students in ambitious learning; analyze whether their students are learning, and adjust their instruction to become more effective. Teacher candidates submit unedited video recordings of themselves at work in a real classroom as part of a portfolio that is scored by highly trained educators. edTPA builds on decades of teacher performance assessment development and research regarding teaching skills and practices that improve student learning.

I love serving students and helping them reach their goals and dreams! ~COLLABORATIVE FIELD TRIP TO JSU FIELD SCHOOL - LITTLE RIVER CANYON~
The Special Education Collaborative Dual (SCD) Teacher Candidates (TC) and the Early Childhood Elementary (ECP) Teacher Candidates part of the Teacher Education Department, were able to take a collaborative field trip to the JSU Field School at Little River Canyon along with Dr. Cynthia Connor, Professor of Special Education and Mrs. Aimee Weathers, Instructor of Early Childhood Education. The group was welcomed by W. Peter Conroy, Director of Environmental Policy and Information Center who gave a brief overview of the facility. Then the TCs were divided into four groups each containing both ECP and SCD TCs. At some point during the morning, each group attended a lesson demonstration on Herpetology, led by Rebekah Taylor, Assistant Director, and a lesson on Alabama Black Bears, led by Beth Milam Sewell, Outdoor and Environmental Education Associate. Each group also participated in a hike to Little River Falls led by Cindi Fitzpatrick, Kelly Wagner, and Rebecca Latham led the hikes for your group.
Teachers and students from public schools, private schools, and homeschools visit the JSU Field School during the academic year. Over 7000 people were hosted at educational events in 2023 and in 2022 over 4000 people. A majority of the TCs who attended this collaborative activity will be teaching in schools within the Northeastern Alabama area. They now are familiar with what the JSU Field School can offer. The Teacher Education Department plans to continue the partnership with the JSU Field School and plans to coordinate many visits for the TCs in the future.

~CEPS DUCKS!~
Want to see someone smile? Be with them when they find a CEPS duck!
~CONFESSION TIME~
I've been telling a huge UNTRUTH since August 2023...I've flat out lied! 😀 I AM THE DUCK LADY!
I wanted to do something fun to celebrate being in our new complex and my upcoming retirement. I hope everyone has enjoyed finding our CEPS ducks! I've been within hearing range and sight of a few finding the ducks and there are typically shrieks of excitement and huge smiles! The ducks will be around for about three more months before I retire this summer. If you haven't found one, you still have a chance! Happy hunting! #cepsducks
