Principal's Corner By: Mrs. Ellis

My name is Wendy Allen and this is my second year teaching at LPCS. I grew up in Wells where I learned to appreciate the benefits of a small school and community. After graduating from Elmira College, I decided to see a bit of world. I taught Kindergarten and third grade in Virginia and New Jersey and even spent a year as a flight attendant out of New York City. I am married and have two kids; Logan is 13 and Bridget is 12. My husband and children love the Adirondacks so in 2014, we decided to move back. We take advantage of all this beautiful area has to offer: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, water sports, etc and have lots of visitors from our old neighborhood in New Jersey. I am fortunate to work at this amazing little school and I am looking forward to my new adventure in third grade next year.

The students have worked so hard preparing for the production! We cannot wait to show you the amazing talent we have here at LPCS. There will also be a bake sale happening during both showings. See you there!

On Monday, March 18, 2019, students in grades 7 - 9th along with Mrs. Saltis, Mrs. O'Connell, Mr. Bobbette, Mr. Swift, and Mrs. Ellis traveled to Washington, D.C. for the triennial trip. Some of the highlights included a tour in Gettysburg (on the way), Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, George Washington's Mount Vernon, National Archives Museum, National Mall, Smithsonian National Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Air and Space Museum, and the National Harbor. Students also attended a NHL Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning at the Capital One Arena.

“We’ve waited our whole lives for this trip and I can’t believe tomorrow is our last day here . . .”

While we heard the children say many things during our Washington, D.C. trip that quote was the most memorable one I heard. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of adults and students! We are truly blessed to be able to offer our students such an amazing educational opportunity and memories that will last a lifetime.

We would like to thank our teachers, staff, administrators, board of education, parents, and community members for your continued support, fund raising, and the gift of opening doors and experiences to the amazing students we have. It takes more than a village to make this trip possible. Last and foremost, we would like to thank our students. They were flexible, courteous, inquisitive, and appreciative!
