May 5 - May 9 is Teacher and Staff appreciation week! Thursday is your day to celebrate your child's teacher!

Join us Friday, May 9, at 5:30 pm for our Culture Week Potluck and First Catch celebration.

Please bring a dish to share and come enjoy all of the beautiful projects our students have been working on this week.

We are excited to announce a new partnership with South Central Foundation (SCF)'s behavioral health and child and family outpatient services. Beginning this week, a member of SCF's team from the East clinic at 3000 C Street will be here at the school. For the remaining days this year, this role will primarily be to observe and to connect families to available programs and resources. However, we hope to expand this partnership in the coming year to include behavioral health services here at school.

During the week of May 12, facilitators from STAR (Standing Together Against Rape) will visit classrooms in order to provide age-appropriate personal body safety lessons. Please see the letters below for K-6 students as well as 7-8 grade students.

If you do not wish for your student to receive these lessons, please email Assistant Principal Osborne at Osborne_Sarah@asdk12.org (be sure to include your child's name, grade level, and teacher's name).

Come out and help our kids have a fun-filled Field Day!

We need help with Set Up, Activity Stations, and Clean Up. If you are able to help with either the morning or afternoon, it would be greatly appreciated.

10:00am - 12:30pm - Grades 4 - 8 Field Day Activities

1:00 -3:00pm - Grades PreK - 3 Field Day Activities

3:00 - 3:30pm - Clean Up

As we approach our final 10 days of school, set a goal for your student to attend every single day!

The number of students attending 9 out of 10 school days in April increased to nearly 68%! Let's keep up this growth and see if we can exceed 75% for May!

We are already looking forward to welcoming our students back for the 2025-2026 school year at our new location at 3601 W 40th Avenue Anchorage, AK 99517 (the Lake Hood Elementary building). The first day of school for 2025-2026 will be August 14 for grades 1-8 and August 21 for preschool and kindergarten.

Stay tuned for summer events! We plan to have a school community celebration on August 5 at 6:30 pm to welcome our families to the new building. More information will be shared.

Returning ANCCS Students:

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year opens April 25! All returning students must complete the registration process prior to the school year beginning. Registering early helps us predict class sizes and placements for next year and is very appreciated. For more information, please see the ASD registration page or contact the front office at 742-1370.

New ANCCS students:

Students joining ANCCS must apply through the lottery. The spring lottery has run, but families may still apply for the summer lottery that runs in July. Once students have been accepted through the lottery, they may complete the registration process.
