We are working on the suffix ion and tion, we learned what they meant and how to pronounce them and words they are in. We also are learning how to identify base and root suffixes base normally means one syllable and root typically has more.
In our ecosystems lab notebook, we are leaning how to summarize, and we are reading informational text and putting in to graphic organizers
Mr. Regala has us keep a reading log to track our reading, we wright down the book we read every 15 minutes along with the date and a signature of whoever saw us read. We should be reading at least 30 minutes a day!

Math update ✨
Author: Beverly
Heyy! Its Beverly with your weekly update on math. We just finished another unit which means we will be learning a lot of new stuff. Currently we are learning about fractions of a fraction, (I know, cool right?) And how to multiply unit fractions. At the same time, we have been learning how to multiply fractions with a whole number. Math can be a very complicated subject but our amazing math teacher, Ms. Tamayo, explains things very thoroughly, and makes sure everyone understands the topic, so shout out to her👏.

The Spanish found gold \\\\and silver in Mexico and south America, so they forced the natives to work in silver and gold mines. Europeans brought their bible to convert people to Christians. In social studies we have been learning about early European and Polynesian explorers. We learned why they came to the new world* and why they came. We read the textbook and now were making a power point to compare and textbook and now were making a power point to compare and contrast the European and Polynesians. *New world: what early Europeans called the Americas 🦅🦅
Science
Science By: Vivienne & Vedika. Dear families,
We are going to tell you what we have been doing in science! We have been observing butterflies. We also have been observing the caterpillars before they were in their cocoons. You may ask your child about what they have observed in science. Here is a picture of our butterflies and caterpillar’s when they are in their cocoon’s:
Now we will tell you about the grama grass we have been growing and learning and observing about. Before we start take a look at the pics of grama grass!
All the groups planted 2 plants one in the dark and one in the light. We have observed that the grass in the dark turn yellowish greenish and the one in the light also turned yellowish but mostly green. Your child may have more observations you may ask them about.
One more thing that we have learned about is the human digestive system. We will tell you now. We watched videos and learned the parts of the digestive system. There are some more pictures

Turkey Bowl XXI
I want to thank everyone for their support during our 21st Annual Turkey Bowl. It started with the playing of our National Anthem from our very own Mr. K! Then, off to the field of glory...It was a wonderful event where students showcased exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship while enjoying quality time together. The competition was spirited and fun, culminating in a final score of 21 to 28, with Mr. Regala's class taking the victory. Well done G5...

Events in G5!!!
Dear families, in the last couple of weeks we played the Turkey bowl which is a football game where Ms. Tamayo’s class and Mr. Regala’s class compete against each other in a friendly match the score was 28 (Regala) - 21(Tamayo) That was on November 27th ,2024. Families to remind your kids please make sure to send your kid with appropriate winter wear. Both classes have a lockbox to try opening for a prize. Almost every week we try to find a 3-digit number. Mr. Regala hides clues around the G5 area. Wyatt a kid in our class, opened up the lockbox and got a box of 90 Airheads! Our class holiday party is coming up on December 20th, 2024. We will have a blast watching the movie, Elf. We’ll be drinking Hot Chocolate and eating a bunch of other treats. We hope you and your kids enjoy the 4-day weekend. The G5 hopes you have a great thanksgiving.
