2024-2025 Scheduling
With student course request forms submitted, the scheduling process has begun for the 2024-2025 school year. The scheduling process takes place throughout the spring and summer months and typically comes to an end in early August. All students will receive their 2024-2025 schedules at Tiger Days which takes place in late August. More details on Tiger Days will be communicated throughout the spring.
Spring Testing: M-STEP & PSAT
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) and PSAT will be administered this spring. The M-STEP, which is entering its 8th year as the official state assessment, will include summative assessments designed to measure student growth in various subject areas. All students in grades 6-8 will be assessed in English-Language Arts and mathematics. 8th grade students will also be assessed in science and social studies. The PSAT replaces the M-STEP English-Language Arts and mathematics assessments in 8th grade. 8th grade students will continue to take the M-STEP science and social studies assessments. Spring testing is scheduled to begin in mid-April. More information and details will be provided as the testing window approaches.
Additional Notes and Reminders
Students are expected to exit the building in a timely manner after dismissal at the end of the day. If students are in the building after school hours for retakes, athletic events, or meetings, they must be supervised by a staff member. A supervised study hall is available after school until 3:30 pm on full days and until 12:00 pm on early release days for students awaiting rides, practices, etc.
- March 1st - Half day all students - Exams (Hours 4 - 6)/End of Trimester 2
- March 4th - Half day all students - Teacher Professional Development
- March 4th - Start of Trimester 3
- March 25th - No School - Spring Break (March 25th-March 29th)
- April 1st - No School for Students and Staff - Easter Monday
- April 2nd - School Resumes
Celebrating Excellence: Student Recognition Program
Each month, our teachers and staff nominate students who have exhibited exceptional qualities in various aspects of their school life. These qualities include respect, responsibility, gratitude, empathy, perseverance, honesty, cooperation, courage, and creativity. For the month of February, we highlighted empathy.
Congratulations to our students who demonstrated the characteristics and qualities of Empathy for the month of February! We are very proud of these students! Keep up the great work Tigers!!!
Macomb Family Services Adolescent Outreach Counseling
Macomb Family Services provides free outside counseling services for those students who may be affected by family substance abuse issues. Licensed professional counselor, Dorothy Yope, can meet with students on a confidential basis during school hours for eight sessions free of charge. Students are required to make-up any work they missed while in a session. Please contact Mrs. Husken in the AMS counseling center for more information, or you may call Macomb Family Services directly at 586-752-9696.
SEXTING—Think Before You Send
Texting is one of the many ways that cell phones and the internet have made it easier for people to stay in touch and share news and ideas. Sexting means sharing sexually explicit text messages or sexual photos or videos of yourself or others using a cell phone or internet. Sharing includes sending, receiving, or forwarding inappropriate content. Not only is this unsafe, but also it is illegal! Privacy is not guaranteed and it may be shared by others. A sext can cause embarrassment and humiliation by accident or on purpose. The images or texts can stay online forever and can cause bullying, harassment, attract sexual predators, and lead to legal prosecution by the police. If it happens at school, your child may face consequences such as suspension or expulsion. If you or your child are sent such messages or images, please advise them: don’t respond, don’t pass it on, and do tell a trusted adult! Please discuss this important issue with your child.
Math Tutoring
Mrs. Milner is offering after school math tutoring for all students (grades 6-8). Tutoring will be available on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 pm in Room 106. Any student who is planning on attending tutoring is expected to come with specific math related questions from their homework, a test review, or to prepare for an upcoming assessment. The number of students for each session is limited and students must sign up at the link below prior to the session. Walk-in tutoring is not available. Armada Athletics
Interested in joining track? The first practice will be April 8th after school. In order to participate, you must have a current physical, dated on or after April 15, 2023, on file with the Athletic Dept. All interested students will be invited to attend an informational meeting during the school day in the coming weeks. Drugs Are Trash Bag Fundraiser
From March 4th – March 19th you will have an opportunity to support Armada Middle School by purchasing and selling something we use every day…Trash Bags!! The pick up date will be on May 2nd. Gift card prizes are awarded to the students who sell the most bags and turn in their order by 1:30 p.m. on March 19th.
Thank you to all of the patrons of this year's concession stands at the home sporting events for our middle school teams. Thank you to Sarah H. for coordinating the boy's basketball concessions during this year's winter season. And, THANK YOU to all of the parents of winter athletes who stepped up and worked a shift during those home games! And again, a final thank you to all who visited the concession stand during the games and supported our group with your purchases!
Thank you to those who purchased a Valentine balloon from the parent group and thank you to our parent sellers! This small fundraiser will help us fund an appreciation luncheon for the AMS Staff. If you have any ideas for future fundraisers and are wiling to share, please do! We love to incorporate new ideas to benefit the staff and students at AMS!
The parent group is planning to host a special staff appreciation luncheon for the middle school staff in May. If you have any interest in helping plan this luncheon, please reach out to the parent group. This has typically been a catered, buffet style meal to offer our thanks and appreciation to our dedicated staff!
The Parent Group will host a dance on Friday, March 8 for all AMS Students. Tickets will be $5 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will be on sale form Monday, March 4 to Friday, March 8 during all scheduled lunches.
