PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Trojan Families,
As we enter the week of Thanksgiving, I'd like to say THANK YOU to our students, faculty/staff, parents/guardians, and community. Our students have been working hard in and outside of the classroom, pouring their heart and soul into athletics, arts, clubs, and in service to our community. Our faculty/staff have spent countless hours lesson planning, grading assignments, and leading, guiding, and coaching our next generation. Parents, thank you for your ongoing support, encouragement, and assistance here at NHS.
It's my desire for everyone to take some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with friends, family, and loved ones. Whether you're traveling or staying close to home, be intentional about filling your days with relaxation and gratitude. Let's also remember to check in, encourage, and uplift someone as we are a community, and we need each other.
In partnership,
Michael Abraham
Principal
END-OF-COURSE & FINAL EXAMS
Students should mark their calendars to begin studying and preparing for final exams and end-of-course (EOC) exams as they are right around the corner. It is essential for students to be present and on time on their scheduled testing days. Please refer to the schedule below. Let's work together to ensure a smooth and successful testing period for our Trojans!

TEACHER OF THE MONTH & DIFFERENCE MAKER
Each month, we celebrate and honor a "Teachers of the Month" & as well as a "Difference Maker."
Our Teacher of the Month, Mr. Sanford, teaches English, and our Difference Maker, Mr. Stewart, teaches Social Studies. Both teachers go above and beyond to help their students and their colleagues. They both carry the TORCH (Tenacity, Organization, Respect, Community, & Honor). If you would like to help us with a small gift, click the button below to sign up. Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming Student Recognition.
PIES FOR TEACHERS
Please support Friends of Northwestern by donating a pie for our "New to Northwestern" Teachers to help lighten their load this Thanksgiving Season. Pies are needed by 8am on Tuesday, 11/26 and can be home-made or purchased from the bakery section of any grocery store. Please provide store bought pies that don't need to be refrigerated. Please CLICK HERE to sign up. Thanks in advance for your support!
STUDENT CANVAS & MY HOMEWORK
Students should continually check their canvas messages for important information as teachers, club advisors, and administrators use this tool to communicate with our students on a daily basis. Teachers also utilize My Homework to invite students to WIN (what I need) time.
PARENT PORTAL
Parents and guardians should be sure to log in to PowerSchool to keep up with students' academic progress and attendance. PowerSchool is the system used to keep up with students' grades and attendance. The system is live, so as teachers are updating grades and attendance, you can see it immediately. As a parent or guardian, you can also set up notifications for ParentPortal to contact you about your child's progress on a weekly basis, daily basis, or anytime a new grade or attendance code has been entered.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
- Students must be present for at least 60 minutes to get credit for attending class.
- Parents may submit up to three parent notes per semester or a total of 6 per school year. If your student has to miss school, please submit an excuse to nwabsencedocumentation@rhmail.org within three days of the absence.
ATTENDANCE RECOVERY
Students have been notified via their canvas messages and have also been provided a sign-up link for makeup school. Makeup school takes place in the library. For questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Gravley at sgravley@rhmail.org or (803) 981-1928.
