March is Women's History Month
Women’s History Month celebrates, recognizes, and honors the vital contributions and accomplishments of women throughout history during March.
This month-long observance highlights the achievements of women in various fields, shedding light on their roles in shaping societies worldwide. It serves as a platform to acknowledge the progress made in advancing women’s rights and gender equality, while also emphasizing the work that still needs to be done. Women’s History Month encourages reflection on the trailblazing individuals who have broken barriers, inspiring future generations to continue the pursuit of equality and empowerment for women everywhere.

The State Convention for the Georgia Association of Student Councils was February 20 – 22 at Rock Eagle. As President School, the Seckinger Student Council planned and hosted the convention. Our four President students (Lauren Chiru-Danzer, Joy Shehata, Jada Nagbe and Lilian Cao) and thirty-member convention team created an unforgettable experience for 750 delegates from across the state. During the convention, Seckinger’s Student Council received the prestigious Council of Excellence Award for the second year in a row. Our council was one of only nine in the state to win this award. We were also recognized as one of only eight schools to complete the State Service Project – A Roadmap to Wellness in partnership with the Work2BeWell initiative. We also received several individual honors that were presented during the convention. Eight students were honored for graduating from the Certified Student Leader Program. These students are Roshni Chaudhari, Lauren Chiru-Danzer, Mia Herrera, Shia Holt, Yumi Park, Annabella Rennie, Joy Shehata, and Haleigh Brooke Shorter. Four of these students were selected to present their capstone projects during student led workshops during the convention – Roshni Chaudhari, Mia Herrera, Shia Holt and Annabella Rennie. Finally, our Student Council advisor, Ms. Amy Benson, was recognized as the 2024-2025 High School Advisor of the Year.

- Who is eligible? Current GCPS students who are fasting during Ramadan may receive a meal to-go.
