Preschool Edition
Welcome to Oberlin City Schools!
Hello Oberlin! I would like to introduce myself as the new Director of Pupil Services for Oberlin City Schools. I began my career in education as an intervention specialist and have worked in that capacity at the elementary, middle and high school level. For the past 3 years, I have worked as a special education administrator. I am thrilled to join the Oberlin district and community and look forward to meeting and working to support our students and families. In my role, I will oversee special education in the district as well as serve as the director of our preschool program. My intention is to send a quarterly newsletter to families to keep everyone informed about the great things happening in pupil services. If you have any questions or concerns, (or just want to say "hello"), please don't hesitate to reach out. I can be reached at 440-776-4559 or sfelix@oberlinschools.net. I'm looking forward to a fabulous school year! Sincerely, Sheila Felix

The Ages & Stages Questionnaires
Welcome to our ASQ Online screening program! All early learning centers in the City of Oberlin have partnered with OberlinKids to ensure that all children enter kindergarten healthy and ready to learn. As part of the Ohio Step Up to Quality Program, your child's center is required to obtain a developmental screening for each child upon enrollment and annually at least once per year thereafter. OberlinKids collaborates with all partner centers in this process. OberlinKids' Director, Jenn Keathley, provides support and resources to all children not enrolled in early learning centers.
Once you have completed the screening the results will be reviewed and scored by a trained specialist and shared with your child's teacher. If, at any time, you have a concern or a question please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or OberlinKids.
The Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ®-3) is a developmental screening tool that pinpoints developmental progress in children between the ages of one month to 5 ½ years. Its success lies in its parent-centric approach and inherent ease-of-use—a combination that has made it the most widely used developmental screener across the globe. Evidence shows that the earlier development is assessed—the greater the chance a child has to reach his or her potential. This questionnaire looks at Communication, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Problem Solving, and Personal-Social skills.
Early identification of social-emotional challenges can make all the difference to a young child. The proof is undeniable: the earlier a behavioral concern is identified, the greater the chance a child has for reaching his or her full potential in life. This is the driving force behind Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ®:SE-2)—a parent-completed, highly reliable system focused solely on social-emotional development in young children. Accurately identifying behavior through ASQ:SE-2 paves the way for the next steps—further assessment, specialized intervention, or ongoing monitoring, for example—to help children reach their fullest potential during their most formative early years.
All caregivers who complete both the ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE-2 by Friday, September 20th will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card!
