Halloween Costume Reminder
Lakes Community High School,
Halloween is just around the corner, and we would like to make sure students are being safe and dressing appropriately for the school day. Please refer to the student handbook available on the school's website 24-25 Student Hand book. The expectation is that student costumes adhere to the specific principles of the D117 Dress Code, which is outlined and explained on pages 15-16 in the handbook.
Key points to remember when choosing a Halloween costume:
No masks or facial coverings are allowed.
Additionally, no look-alike weapons, or references to drugs, alcohol, or banned substances are permitted.
Language/verbiage contained in costumes or costumes that are a disruption to the learning environment are not permitted.
Overall, remember our motto of Respect + Courtesy = Pride for costumes and all daily interactions at Lakes.
Please let your dean know if you have any questions or concerns about the expectations for students on Halloween. We appreciate your support and wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween.
Sincerely,
Lakes Administration

Math Learning Center Info
Did you know that Lakes has multiple options for help with math? Consider an option such as the Math Learning Center, which offers personalized assistance from a Lakes Math Teacher during 4th, 5th, and 6th periods. Our Knowledge Nest After School Tutoring program provides additional support beyond class hours from 3:25-4:25pm with qualified math educators. The National Honor Society's peer tutoring program offers a peer-oriented approach, with Lakes students mentoring peers in math. Lastly, students can check out a Big Ideas Math Textbook from the Lakes ILC for additional practice problems and examples. All of these tutoring options can enhance math skills and help provide a deeper understanding of mathematics.
Tech Campus is now accepting Applications for the 2025-2026 school year
To enroll in the tech campus for next school year students must complete the online application to ensure a seat. It is important to note that tech campus enrollment works on a first come first serve basis, once all seats have been filled, students will be placed on a waiting list which does not guarantee a seat at tech campus.
Course selection is on the horizon for our current Juniors and Sophomore students, we strongly encourage interested students to complete the online application as soon as possible. This application does guarantee that you will receive a seat in your selected course but delaying until the start of second semester increases the chances of not getting into your first choice.
Students should be prepared to speak with their counselors about their interest in enrolling in tech campus during the course selection process. Below are links to the 25-26 tech campus application and course descriptions with videos for students to explore if the tech campus is the right fit for their goals and aspirations.
As a reminder- Lake County Trades Council is hosting its annual trades fair on October 17th at the Lake County Fair Grounds. More information is available here.
Attention Current LCHS Juniors and Seniors! Tech Campus is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested, complete the application and express your interest to your counselor during upcoming course selections meetings! Also be on the lookout for information in Weekly Wisdom! Any questions, see Mr. Rowells.

Superintendent's Corner
Every two weeks, I'm privileged to spend half a day visiting eight classes at one of our schools. I sit in on two classes per period, with each visit lasting about 20 minutes, observing our students in action. Last week, I took the photo above while visiting eight math classes at LCHS, and two weeks prior, I visited Culinary, Early Childhood Development, Drivers Ed, and P.E. classes at ACHS. These visits always leave me with two reflections: 1) Students have a challenging job! They come to school from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and must demonstrate a variety of skills daily. 2) We have dedicated and talented staff members at ACHS and LCHS!
Reach out! ➡️If you ever have a question or topic you would like more information about, please feel free to share your idea with me via email (jeff.feucht@chsd117.org) or via phone (direct line: 847.838.7679).
College & Career Center
- Attending a college visit is a great way to learn about colleges/universities.
- College visits are open to Juniors and Seniors and will take place in the College and Career Center.
- To attend a college visit you must both register in Maia Learning and obtain permission to attend from the teacher of the class that you'll be missing 24 school hours in advance (ie. A Monday 8:30am visit requires registration and permission from your teacher by 8:30am the previous Friday).
