Principal Kionna's Weekly Word
Dear Trix Families,
March is National Reading Month
This month we will celebrate reading all month long. Be on the lookout for the fun reading activities that we have in store for scholars this month. Reading Month Activity Calendar to come soon!
Trip to Africa
This year's Black History night, Trip to Africa was a huge success. I am extremely proud of the work that the scholars and teachers did to make this even a success. I am hugely proud of how the scholars not only learned all of the information but proudly presented it to their peers and the families.
Re-Enrollment Time
If you have not had the opportunity to reserve your scholar's spot for next year please be sure to click the Re-enrollment link below. If you need some assistance please be sure to reach out the Student Enrollment Coordinator, Tyresha Robinson or the front office assistant, Ms. C. Robinson
Academic Focus
We have a full 5 weeks until we start our end of the year assessment period. So we are doubling down on our academic focuses for this year. Please be sure to ask you scholars about the things they are working on in their classes.
- Focusing on math facts - trivia, flashcards, games and competitions
- Focusing on academic vocabulary - those words that scholars see on assessments like NWEA and MStep
- Focusing on spending more time completing Zearn lessons - the computer program that is directly connected to the math curriculum, Eureka Math
- Focusing on spending more time completing MyPath lessons - the computer program that is directly connected to NWEA which provides practice on reading and language skills
- Focusing on using R.A.C.E to answer all questions - R.A.C.E stands for: Restate the question, Answer the Question, Cite your evidence, and Explain your answer.
All of these focuses are things that you can do with your scholar(s) at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher for more information.
Attendance
In addition to our academic focus, we will be focusing heavily on attendance of all scholars. In order for us to prepare scholars for their futures, they have to be in school everyday.
Please be sure that your scholar is in attendance Monday through Friday to be eligible for the weekly incentive. See details below. We have had 3 families win $50 gift gas gift card so far, you could be next!
We have awarded 5 families with $50 gift cards!!! Be sure to send your scholar to school everyday and you could be next
Enrichment and Soaring Scholars
Enrichment and Soaring Scholars will take place as normal this week.
Enrichment - Dance
As a reminder to all parents of scholars who attend dance: Please be sure to bring in the dance attire fee tomorrow. If you need additional time, please be sure to let Ms. Owens know.

Assistant Principal
Hello Trix Academy Families, Many of our scholars are improving in math. But, to really accelerate their learning, they could use more practice. Another great resource for families is Khan Academy. Khan Academy is a free site that helps create practice activities for scholars. The website is https://www.khanacademy.org/signup and you can select the parent account to start. It will walk you through creating activities for your scholar so they can practice and build their skills. Check it out and let us know how it is going. Thank you!

Hello Trix Families,
Attendance
Just a reminder that it is very important that your scholars are in attendance everyday. Scholars who are absent miss out on important instructional time. Parents please remember to see Ms. Hayes if you received a letter regarding attendance. If you have scheduled a meeting with me, please make sure you show up on time. I will continue calling and reaching out to you until we get this resolved.
Again, thanks for all you do because we appreciate and need you!
