A Message From the Head of School
Dear Families,
Happy February! We are already well into 2025, and it has been wonderful to see the children growing, learning, and making new discoveries each day. We are thrilled to share exciting updates about the ongoing construction and transformations happening at St. Michaels. Every day we see progress that will enhance our learning spaces, creating an even more engaging and enriching environment for our children!
These changes reflect our commitment to provide the best early childhood experience possible, and we cannot wait for you to see the results. Looking ahead to 2025, we are eager to continue growing, innovating, and creating a space where every child can thrive.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and enthusiasm as we navigate this exciting journey together. Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, please reach out with any questions!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Construction is still moving along, and we are looking at a completion date to be at the end of March. Form boards are being placed for our new carpool drop off location, and Smoke Tree Landscaping has begun their portion of the project around the completed parking lot. We kindly ask that everyone slows down a bit when entering off of Sharp Rd onto the carpool lane. We understand some parents may run a bit late in the mornings, but we have had some cars going entirely too fast down the gravel road. Thank you for your cooperation with this request.
PERCY'S PLAYGROUND
We would like to extend our thanks to all of the sponsors who made the installation of Percy's Playground possible. We will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony and breakfast for all who made this new addition possible. We will contact those sponsors soon with a spring date!
RED DAY
Please have your children wear red this Friday and have them bring in a $2.00 or more donation for the American Heart Association. We believe in teaching the children about helping those in need and giving back to their community. Wear Red Day is one of the ways we can help the children learn that lesson. So, let's deck out our wardrobe in red and learn about the importance of a healthy heart!
WE NEED YOU!
We are putting together a committee for our Annual Giving Campaign for the 2025-2026 school year. Many people do not realize that private schools are funded solely on tuition, endowments, and fundraising. Unlike public education, private schools do not have access to the same grants and government funding. Private schools need to fill the "gap" which refers to the difference between the actual cost of educating a student and the amount of tuition collected. Through our annual fundraising campaign, we are able to close that gap and provide the best educators, curriculum, and equipment for our children. If you would like to be considered for this committee, please email Emily Sontag esontag@stmichaelsla.org
GRANDPARENTS DAY
Classes will be celebrating Grandparents Day on April 9th, 10th, and 11th all starting at 9:30 a.m. in our Parish Life Center. A schedule will be sent out by teachers in regard to date and time each class will celebrate. This will be a morning for Grandparents to come enjoy music by the children and a reception in their grandchild's classrooms.
OPTIONAL UNIFORMS FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR!
We are excited to announce that we have paired with School Time Uniforms to offer optional uniforms for the 2025-2026 school year. This option is for all entering Pre-K 2, Pre-K 3, and Pre-K 4 students. School Time has a corner set up for St. Michaels and will be offering a back-to-school discount. The decision to implement uniforms was based on parent requests and taking a closer look at Episcopal schools in south Louisiana. We are excited for this new addition as we feel it will help parents during the week. Please see the flyer below to see options for our school. School Time also will carry hair accessories for the girls.
FOOD DRIVE
Every year St. Michael's Preschool and church participate in a Food Drive. This year, the drive will take place February 21st - 28th. Please do not send in food to the school. We will be sending brown bags home for you to collect the food and then on Friday February 28th you will drop the bags off in carline to the van parked in our lot. A list of items most needed will also be sent home. Please let your child's teacher know if you have any questions.
