MCAS This Week
Our third and fourth graders will be taking MCAS this week. Our message around this test is this - it is one measure to see how we are performing. It is not EVERYTHING. It does NOT define our students. We strive to focus our instruction on GOOD teaching, and through this our students should be prepared to do well. We do not put a lot of STRESS on the students, but we do expect them to take it seriously and do their best. We are always so proud of how our students step up. I expect nothing less this year. Our students are amazing and continuously make us proud.
The Schedule:
Monday and Tuesday - Grade 4 MCAS
- Grade 4 will have lunch at 12:15
Wednesday and Thursday - Grade 3 MCAS
Make sure students get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Testing will begin at 9:00AM. If your child is unable to come to school, we ask that you notify the office as soon as possible, so we are aware. We will reach out in the morning if we do not hear from you. As always, we appreciate your cooperation.
Staff Update
Mrs. Fabisch, our Wellness Teacher, will be out for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Rosa, one of our paraprofessionals, will be covering wellness classes for the near future. We are currently interviewing for a long term sub position. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Report Card Views
As I mentioned before, report cards are an important way to see how our students are performing relative to grade level standards. They are shared three times a year in order to communicate progress/performance to families. When we first started looking into views, only about 50% of report cards were opened in ASPEN. Over the past two years, we have done a lot of work to communicate about report cards. We set a goal to have at least 80% report cards viewed. For term 2, we got close to our goal with 76% report cards viewed. This means about 260 were viewed and about 85 report cards were not viewed. While I am happy with our progress, there is still work to do to make sure everyone sees the value in the report cards and also understands how to access them. Thank you to everyone for their effort in making great progress in this area.
March Madness
Amazing work by everyone! It was awesome to see classes working together, writing each other postive messages and working hard to reach goals. It may seem like a silly competition, but the overall effect it has on our school community is unbelievable. We will be announcing the WINNER tomorrow. Thank you for your effort to support your child in this.

Donation of Glasses Needed
Please see the flyer below from our student council. They are collecting eye glasses for the Attleboro Lions Club.
YMCA - Spinnin' for Swimmin'
The YMCA is participating in the annual Spin-a-thon on April 6th. This year, there is a team called Spinnin' for Swimmin. This team is focused on raising money for our Attleboro second grade students and the swim program. If you would like to see this program continue and are able to donate, they would be incredibly grateful. They Y has been an amazing community partner for our students.
William James College Interface Referral Service
Any resident of Attleboro or student attending the Attleboro Public Schools (through a guardian) can access the William James College INTERFACE Referral Service. The INTERFACE Helpline helps individuals in subscribing communities become connected with outpatient mental health and wellness resources.
Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. Please see What to Expect When You Call the Helpline or visit interface.williamjames.edu for more information.
The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.
Car Drop Off/Outdoor Play
As you know, our school day starts at 8:30AM. This means there are no staff members on duty to supervise students until 8:30AM. Several students are leaving their cars before 8:30AM to play. If you are allowing your child(ren) to leave your car and play before school, they must be supervised. Students cannot leave that area and go to the side or back of the building where they would be unsupervised. Thank you for your attention to this.
Community Resource and Support Liaison
Michelle Christopher, a Studley staff member, is also our Community Resource and Support Liaison. If you ever find yourself needing supports but do not know where to turn, she can help. Her role is to connect families with community resources that you may not know are even available. We are here to help each other, so please reach out to me if you would like to connect with Ms. Christopher. You can also reach out to her directly at mailto:mchristopher@attleboroschools.com.
