250th Anniversary Celebration in Cleona
The 250th anniversary of the United States is July 4, 2026. Cleona Borough has formed a committee to plan activities to celebrate this important milestone. So far, this list includes a community-wide picnic, a patriotic house decoration contest, and a pet parade. We are looking for volunteers to help us identify other fun family activities. Volunteers don’t have to live in Cleona, but they must be willing to attend our monthly meetings and bring new ideas to discuss. If you want to help plan a fun celebration, please get in touch with Jonathan Johnson, Borough Manager. The next meeting is on March 31st at 7:00 p.m. at Cleona Borough Hall.

School Spotlight
Fifth-grade students in Mr. Phillip's class have been completing a March Madness Reading Challenge. So far, for the month of March, the students in his three classes have read nearly 10,000 total pages.
After reading a book, students rate the book out of 5 stars and provide a short synopsis, as well as the title, author, genre, number of pages, etc. Students have taken the challenge very seriously. Some have even found books they are interested in from reading the synopsis of other books peers have read.
As a reward for their excellent behavior, Mrs. Popejoy's third-grade class won some game time this week! Keep up your hard work, Third Graders!
Mrs. Uhrich's fourth-grade class used all of the skills they've learned in math to try to be the first team to solve all of the clues and answer this math mystery! Their teamwork and perseverance was impressive!
Congratulations to sixth-grade students Isabella Fuentes, Lucas Monterrosa, Amairani Olivera Garcia, Sokanna Ou, Grace Leisey, and Ellie Bellaman for being chosen to represent AE at the PMEA District Seven Elementary Song Fest! Students spent their Saturday working with over 240 students from local school districts, culminating in a concert at the end of the day!
Mrs. McFeater's third-graders learned about linear measurement this week. They estimated and compared body part lengths using centimeters. They compared their height to their arm span, as well as the length of their nose to the length of their ears!
