Academic Spotlight
This month, we have been diligently working on setting and reviewing each student's Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) goals. To ensure that these goals align well with each student’s needs and aspirations, we kindly ask you to complete the linked parent survey.
After everyone has reviewed the Bridging Goals which were set at the end of last year, we will finalize the goals for each student. Students will then translate these goals into student-friendly language, making them more personal and relatable.
Every six weeks, students will reflect on their progress by adding an assignment or assessment that showcases their growth. Our goal is to foster an environment where students are actively aware of their ALP goals and are encouraged to reflect regularly on their achievements. These goals are designed to be dynamic and evolving, with students playing an active role in working towards them—not just tasks assigned by teachers.
To support this process, we encourage you to ask your student about their ALP goals. By engaging in these conversations, you can help reinforce the importance of their goals and their role in tracking their progress.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s learning journey.
Did you know?
Myth #1: "Gifted Students Don’t Need Help; They’ll Do Fine on Their Own."
Truth: Would you send a star athlete to train for the Olympics without a coach? Gifted students need guidance from well-trained teachers who challenge and support them in order to fully develop their abilities. Many gifted students may be so far ahead of their same-age peers that they know more than half of the grade-level curriculum before the school year begins. Their resulting boredom and frustration can lead to low achievement, despondency, or unhealthy work habits. The role of the teacher is crucial for spotting and nurturing talents in school. - National Association for Gifted Children
