Here At JRB
We have a busy week coming up.
This week has a ton to it. On Monday and Tuesday we will visit the book fair with classes. You can look below for instructions about the E-Wallet. Tuesday night is our Open House from 6:30-7:30 PM. Wednesday is a half day of school and we start parent pick-up at 11:55. Friday the 20th has a DJ guided dance party for a few grades at a time. Finally, Friday night is Ready Set Glow.
The Book Fair And E-Wallet
Exciting news!!! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to JRB!! September 16-18 the students will get the opportunity to shop at the book fair (each class gets their designated time.) The book fair will be open to families to shop at the Open House on Tuesday 6:30-7:30pm and after the half day on Wednesday 12pm-2pm. Our goal is to raise money to get books for our school library (which is a 100% volunteer based program and has not gotten new books since 2020). We are also hoping to get books for classroom libraries as well. This year there are TWO really cool things. You don't have to send money in with your child! Sign up for the eWallet via the home page on the scholastic website. You will be able to add money to your child's account there.

There is also an awesome program called Share The Fair. Share The Fair allows students to donate extra money towards the school and children who are unable to afford a book. Our goal is to allow each child to take home a book from the book fair whether they can afford it or not. You can also, via the homepage, donate extra money to Share The Fair and share our link to friends and family to donate to our school's mission to get more access to books. We want to THANK YOU so much for helping us get more books for each and every child in our school. We hope this is the first of many opportunities to increase accessibility to books for our kids.
Notes From The Nurse's Office
Happy Friday To All!
Even though we are only a few short weeks into the school year, we have been seeing a slight rise in illnesses in and around our schools. Just a few reminders regarding our fever, vomiting/diarrhea, and medication policies:
- If you feel as though your student needs to be medicated to make it through the day here at school, we recommend that you keep your student home please.
- Students must remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication, in order to come back to school.
- Students must be free from any episodes of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
Flu season has kicked off in full swing. The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health have put together Flu clinics across our area. Click on the following link to access the flu clinic schedule located nearest to you.

Kindergarteners have been very busy learning their special song “I’m So Glad To Be Here”, and playing Pizza Rhythms on the hand drums! Ask your child to tap and say their favorite kind of pizza!
1st and 2nd graders have been reviewing and playing our Takadimi rhythms on rhythm sticks in a giant rhythm circle, in addition to “I Play, Who Has This Rhythm?” Some classes have begun “decoding” rhythms, which is where students figure out/decode which rhythms the teacher or other classmates are playing!
3rd, 4th & 5th graders are beginning to learn about the different musical eras. Right now, we are in the Medieval Era, which was during the years 500-1450. We will visit all eras sequentially through present-day by the end of the school year! Ask your student which composers they have heard so far and what was important about some of them, as well as instruments used/not used in music from this time period. Students are also composing their own rhythms and playing them, and each other’s, on rhythm sticks. 4th & 5th grade students are also learning and writing more complicated rhythms.
