On Friday, April 12th, the 8th Annual Multicultural Festival unfolded within the vibrant setting of the FSI Middle Gymnasium, hosted by Frontier Schools. The evening sparkled with an array of captivating events: A Mariachi band, 30 country booths brimming with authentic cuisine from diverse cultures, enchanting performances by students, community members, and families, alongside the talents of a skilled face painter and balloon twister. This gathering not only celebrated diversity and cultural richness but also fostered a sense of unity within the community. It stood as a splendid showcase, highlighting the tapestry of cultures that thrive within Frontier Schools.
A Major Investment in Emotional Well-Being
Frontier Schools is the recipient of two grants that account for one of largest combined investments in the emotional well-being of students and faculty in the Kansas City area. Grants for a major expansion of the school’s mental health services from the Jackson County Children’s Service Fund and from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) amount to $950,000.
Directing this multi-disciplinary program is Frontier Senior Social Services Coordinator Melissa Meyer. Says Ms. Meyer, “The school has recognized, along with all other educational systems in the nation, that the pandemic deeply affected the mental health of both students and faculty. Frontier has worked hard over the past two years to build what we think is an innovative model that will bring added resources in a more coordinated and immediate response to both student and faculty needs.”
Superintendent Demircan comments, “A positive emotional state of both students and faculty relates directly to classroom learning. We are excited what these new range of services will mean to the school’s overall academic performance.”
Introducing Stopfinder: Your New Bus Update Solution!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to introduce the Stopfinder app, our new platform designed to enhance the way you receive transportation updates for your child. Stopfinder is an easy-to-use mobile application that offers the ability to monitor your child's bus route, receive real-time updates on bus locations, and promptly notify you of any changes or delays.
Going forward, all communications regarding changes to bus routes, stops, or schedules will be conveyed through the Stopfinder app. Please note that we will discontinue the use of separate emails or text messages for transportation updates.
Activation links have been sent to the email addresses of parents whose children are assigned to a bus. If your child uses the bus service and you have not received your activation email, kindly contact the school office for assistance.

Mazuma CU Disrupt 2024
On April 11th, innovation took center stage as eight FSHS students embarked on a remarkable journey to Mazuma for their Animal CU Disrupt Event ("See You"). Bringing together students from across the metro, this event placed participants into random teams and presented them with a daunting challenge: to revamp and design a new website for Mazuma Credit Union. CEO Deonne Christensen set the tone succinctly, declaring, "Our website sucks, we need your help." With a mere four hours on the clock, teams delved into research, brainstorming, and pitching solutions to tackle this formidable task.
The outcome? Nothing short of extraordinary. Among the standout ideas, two students from FSHS emerged victorious: Kevin J. and Dominic R., both sophomores. Their innovative prowess earned them not only accolades but also cash prizes of $150 each. Beyond the monetary rewards, their names now resonate with the CEO of a local financial powerhouse in the Kansas City area, boasting a legacy of over 75 years in business. Through their ingenuity, Kevin and Dominic have not only showcased their intellectual acumen but also cemented their place as rising stars in the realm of innovation.
