CHARACTER TRAIT FOR MAY
GENERAL INFORMATION & UPDATES
APRIL STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Aniston Hammond is currently part of the ETMS Orchestra and Student Council for a second year in a row. Aniston just completed his second year on the Track Team and participated on Cross Country Team his 7th and 8th grade year. During Aniston’s 7th grade year he was on the ETMS Archery Team. Aniston was on the 8th grade Principal’s Honor Roll first semester and the Principal’s Honor Roll both semesters his 7th grade year. Outside of school, Aniston volunteers at his church, enjoys reading, playing video games and spending time with friends. He also received "The Challenge Coin" from the Lee’s Summit Police Department. Aniston is loyal, witty, compassionate and always goes the extra mile.
Ava Palmer is currently on the Bison Buddies program and is part of Student Council, Theatre, Scholar Bowl and Ukulele Club for a second year in a row. Ava has received Character Trait Awards both her 7th and 8th grade years. Ava was on the Principal’s Honor Roll first semester her 8th grade year and the Principal’s Honor Roll her entire 7th grade year. Ava was nominated in 7th grade to announce an NFL Draft Pick for participation in Fuel Up To Play 60 and assisted with the Special Olympics LSR7 Choose to Include Event. Outside of school, Ava volunteers with Alyssa’s Wishes.

ETMS Theatre Presents....
Lurch has been busy dusting and cobwebbing the mansion because our production of The Addams Family: Young at Part is creeping right up on us May 16th and 17th at 7:00 pm, and we would love to have you as our guest!

Book of the Month - April
Our new book of the month will be, Alias Anna. Students interested in reading the Book of the Month should stop by the library to sign up and check out a copy.
All who participate will be invited to the Discussion with Donuts (including a gluten free option) with Mrs. Brown, the school librarian, and any other staff who participate.
Discussion with Donuts will be held Wednesday, May 8th during TRAIL Time.

Congratulations to ETMS Yearbook Club on being included in Portfolio, volume 29! The first yearbook edition for ETMS 2022-23 has been chosen as part of this best-of-the-best publication produced by Varsity Yearbook. ETMS is among an elite group of schools and only the top 10 percent of schools Varsity Yearbook prints are chosen for this honor.

Final Exams: May 22 - May 24
All ETMS students will take final exams during the last week of the 2023-2024 school year. Should students have extenuating circumstances that would prevent them from being in attendance during the scheduled finals, families may submit a request for early finals.
These requests should be submitted via email to Dr. Morehead by Monday, May 13th. Please include the child's teachers on the email request as well.
Testing Center
Friendly reminder, students who are needing to come in on Fridays to utilize the Testing Center for a makeup test or a test retake may arrive at school starting at 8:05 AM.
Last day of Testing Center will be May 17th.
Note from the Healthroom
Parents/Guardians of Current 7th grade students!
Please send/email any updated vaccine records you may have for next year to the health room. Each 8th grade student will need to be compliant with Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines prior to the start of 8th grade. Please send those records to christie.netterville@lsr7.net or amy.connell@lsr7.net. You may also bring the records to the school and let the front office staff know it is for the health room, if that is preferred.

Crosswalk at Bailey Road
Safety for students getting to and from school is a top priority!
If you have a student who lives on the north side of Bailey Road across from the ball fields, please talk with your student about only using the School Crosswalk located near the softball field to cross Bailey.
Dress Code Reminder
As the weather warms up, a friendly reminder - we follow the LSR7 MS Handbook on dress code:
- Clothing must be free from display or advertisement of any alcohol, drugs, tobacco, weapons, violence, sexual innuendo, gambling, or reference to gang affiliation.
- Clothing must be free from depictions or illustrations that demean or negatively represent any gender, race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
- Clothing that results in inappropriate skin or undergarment exposure many not be worn at school (backless, garments not covering midriff or sides, etc.).
- Clothing/accessories must be free from items which present a safety issue (chains, spikes, dangerous jewelry, safety pins, etc.).
- Shoes must be worn.
- Pants, shorts, and skirts must sit neatly at the waist.
- Hats may only be worn during special occasions or activities.
- Coats must be stored in lockers prior to the start of school.

MATH HOMEWORK HELP
6th, 7th, & 8th Grade students, do you need Math Homework Help? You are welcome to stay after school any Thursday until 4:15PM. Meet in Library Collab Lab.
ATHLETIC EVENTS - ETMS
Students must go home via their normal means of transportation after school and may return with a parent/guardian to attend an event.
Bison Fan Days are the exception.
