INTERNATIONAL BACCALAURETE PROGRAMME
International’s IB Policies: What Are They, and What Do They Say?
As an authorized IB World School, AIS has developed five policies that are required by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO): an academic integrity policy, an admissions/access statement, an assessment policy, an inclusion policy, and a language policy.
These policies were developed by various subcommittees at AIS, and reflect both the basic tenets of the IBO and our school’s unique ecosystem. Policies are reviewed and revised annually. They are posted on our school’s website (under “About Our School”).
For your convenience, here are links to each policy:
IB Learner of the Month
Each month at International, we focus on one of the IB Learner Profile traits, and celebrate scholars and teachers who exemplify them. As partners in education, we love sharing ways that you can support the development of these traits at home.
Today. we celebrated our IB Learners from the months of December, January and February. Students are nominated by staff members when they exemplify the trait. In May, we will honor those for the months of March, April and May!
MARCH - REFLECTIVE
For March, the IB learner profile trait we are highlighting is Reflective.
As reflective learners, we “thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development.”
When reviewing or talking about performance with your student (whether academic, athletic, artistic, or anything else), use the “Think-Reflect-Grow” model:
Think What am I doing? What are others around me doing? Am I helping myself grow and learn?
Reflect: What went well? What should I do in the same ways? What needs to change? What help do I need?
Grow: How can making those changes help me to become my best self? What’s my overall goal?

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Report an Absence
Need to report an absence?
Email: AISATTENDANCE@CREC.ORG
Be informed regarding Attendance
Attendance Matters ALL YEAR LONG!
- The school day is from 7:30-2:05.
- Scholars missing school for 3 cores or more will be considered absent for the day.
- Attendance matters for all classes so if a scholar can only attend 1 or 2 cores for an excused reason, we highly recommend they do.
Scholars absent more than 10% of the school year (18 days) are considered CHRONICALLY ABSENT by the State. The first 9 absences are excused with parent communication to the school. Ten and over will require specific documentation for reasons listed in the handbook (located on our website).
High School Scholars: Loss of credit for a class can occur after 12 absences (Half Year Courses) or 24 absences (Full Year Courses). Please contact your Counselor to discuss how credit can be recovered.
Please remind your child of the importance of waking up early and being in school daily. If you need support and resources please contact Ms. Gibson at sgibson@crec.org or their school counselor (listed below).
