We'd also like to congratulate to Mrs. Palus' 1st-Grade, and Ms. Lombardo's 6th-grade classes. They earned the most Classroom ROCKS tickets last month and will receive a cool treat and a reward to display in their classroom. Mrs. Palus's 1st-grade class also won the Golden Trash Can Award for the cleanest room. Keep up the outta this world behavior, Comets!
2nd Grade Loves Mystery Science
The Mark Twain 2nd Graders have wrapped up the Mystery Science Unit, Work of Water. In the last lessons, we answered two questions, “What’s strong enough to make a canyon?” and “How can you stop a landslide?” For both experiments, we built cornmeal models of land and used water to learn about the power of erosion. The class had fun using aluminum foil, cotton balls, toothpicks, and paper towels to design ways to stop landslides. We had a lot of fun and learned even more. Keep up the great work 2nd graders, YOU ROCK
Basketball Jones PBIS Reward & Books Orders
Twain students recently filled our ROCKStar ticket bin located outside the main office. They have been working on this goal since the beginning of the school year. Individual students and classes earn tickets for making good choices and modeling ROCKStar behavior. As a reward for this exemplary behavior, next Wednesday Twain will be visited by Jim "Basketball" Jones. In addition to dazzling students with his mad basketball skills, Jim will share his three books and the inspiration that helped him and his wife, Brenda, create the adorable characters of Bouncy, Yeti, and Speedy.
Fill out the order form below if you wish to purchase autographed copies of these fun children’s books on the day of the assembly for your child.

Twain Parking Lot Reminders
The North lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for parking only. We MUST keep the loop open for busses and emergency vehicles. This rule applies to everyone, so please be cooperative and follow it.
The large, central lot has two lanes: a drop-off/ pick-up lane on the outside of the loop and a driving lane on the inside.
Please note: Drivers MAY NOT get out of your car while in the outside drop-off/ pick-up lane. Your students must exit to the outside of the loop, and drivers must not exit the car to walk students up or pick them up. If you have younger children who need to be walked up or picked up at the door, you MUST park your car in one of the lots or on the street.
Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please do NOT swear on school grounds. We are trying to set a positive example for behavior for our Twain Comets, and shouting and swearing at other drivers does not set the right example for our kids. We ask our students to be respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe, and we expect those behaviors to be modeled by our parents, too.
Attendance Matters...
Keep up the Routine of Attendance through the New Year
As we end winter break, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults.
Please take steps to keep your child healthy and send them to school unless they are truly sick. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers.
Attendance Works has put together a helpful list of tips to help keep your child healthy and in school.
We want to thank all our families, students, and staff for their continued support of our attendance initiatives.
