Greetings!

My name is Conswalia Chambers-Banks and I am the Dean of Culture for Wakelon Elementary School. This is a new role for Wakelon and I am super excited to be able to support in this capacity. As the Dean of Culture, I will have the opportunity to engage & support students, staff and parents/guardians in a variety of areas.

These areas include, but are not limited to:

• Social & Emotional Learning
• Resiliency Building
• Behavioral Health and Wellness

The Wakelon Elementary School SEL journey is guided by both district wide and school-based expectations and goals. In addition to the expectations and goals, we know that providing social emotional learning school-wide supports the learning environment and promotes academic success.

Priority 2: Student Disposition and Well-Being

We will prioritize caring for students and staff as individuals and developing and maintaining positive social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health.

Goal 5: Student Well-Being

By 2028, 90 % of WCPSS students will demonstrate the social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making and eliminate any disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status.

Indicator A4.06: All teachers will be attentive to students' emotional states, guides students in managing their emotions, and arrange for supports and interventions when necessary.
