PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
This Sunday, 18th June, we wish our Year 4 First Holy Communion Candidates well as they receive the body of Christ for the very first time. Mrs Hunt, Mrs Selyer and Ms Campbell have been busy preparing the children for what will be a very special occasion and we look forward to celebrating this significant milestone in their faith journey. Thank you also to all the parents who have journeyed alongside their children for this Sacrament by attending relevant workshops and commitment masses. Please see Ms Campbell's message below for details regarding the day.
LOCKDOWN PROCEDURE
As outlined in the last newsletter, yesterday we conducted a whole school lockdown procedure as part of our Crisis Management Planning. The Police, Fire Department and neighbouring schools were informed of this drill as part of standard operating procedures. The children were brilliant in their response, remaining calm and following instructions from their teachers. It was pleasing to see the effectiveness of this drill in action.
UNWELL CHILDREN AND COVID
The dreaded influenza A and COVID continues to work it's way through the school. Thank you to all the parents and families who have kept their children off when symptoms have presented. This helps to ensure viruses aren't spread further than necessary. Hopefully, we see the worst of it before the end of term.
SFOA CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to the winning faction, Benedict in this year's school cross country event. All the children were outstanding in their application and many completed the course with confidence while being spurred on by parents and their peers. Even though many children do not enjoy running, it was wonderful to see them demonstrate persistence and grit to benefit their team. The results were as follows:
1st - Benedict 880pts
2nd - Kolbe 685pts
3rd - McCormack 655pts
4th - Agnes 580pts
The top 6 place getters in each age group will participate in the Interschool Cross Country next Friday 23rd June at Mawson Park.
PARENT INTERVIEWS - THURSDAY 29th JUNE 1pm
A reminder to parents that Parent Interviews will be held on Thursday 29th June (Week 10) and that school will conclude at 1pm on that day. Please ensure you have arranged for pick up of your children at 1pm so that interviews can begin promptly at 1:30pm. Camp Australia are available for bookings via the website:
WINTER UNIFORM
We are nearing the conclusion of Term 2 and all uniform items are in stock with the exception of school ties which are due to arrive at the start of Term 3. I have begun to notice a number of students not wearing the correct shoes, earrings or hair accessories as part of their uniform. A reminder to parents that the uniform requirements have been in place for many years and were agreed upon by parents at enrolment. I will be contacting parents whose children are not wearing correct uniform in the coming weeks to discuss. I have attached below acceptable photos of appropriate shoes, earrings, hair accessories and general school uniform. Please feel free contacting me should you have any issues with the school uniform requirement. We appreciate your continued support in maintaining high expectations across our school.
FRIENDS OF FRANCIS
Our children have had a fantastic term and as part of our Friends of Francis, a number of children listed below will be enjoying a lunch with leadership tomorrow. Congratulations to all the winners!
Also, due the children reaching the whole school target for this term, there is a FREE DRESS day tomorrow (Friday 16th June).
WELL BEING WEEK - WEEK 10
Following on from our Friends of Francis positive culture in the school, we will end this term in Week 10 with Wellbeing Week. We are in the third year of our annual Wellbeing Week and there are some great activities for our children as well as NO HOMEWORK and SPORT UNIFORM ALL WEEK. Wellbeing is a collective responsibility and the week recognises it's importance for everyone! Please see below an itinerary of activities that was sent home today via SeeSaw.
Have a fantastic fortnight ahead!
Best wishes

SCHOOL PRAYER GARDEN ART - with LINZI CARTER
Budding artists in Years 4-6 worked with local artist, Linzi Carter to design elements that Linzi will use in the mural to be painted in the St Francis Prayer Garden. The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with a professional artist, learning new techniques and skills in art! We look forward to welcoming Linzi back to St Francis (when the weather warms up!) to paint the mural. Some of our budding artists may get the opportunity to assist Linzi when the painting begins! Thank you to Linzi for working with our very excited artists!
FIRST COMMUNION - Sunday 18th June 11am St Andrew's Church, Clarkson
Please keep the children preparing to receive First Holy Communion in your prayers over the coming days. Receiving Jesus in Communion is a special and exciting time in a young person's faith journey. We look forward to sharing this special time with you on Sunday at 11am, at St Andrew's Church, Clarkson. We ask all children and their families to arrive by 10:45am please.
LIFELINK
Last week three of our amazing Year 6 students (Zac, Lucy & Jaymee) accompanied Mr Clarke and myself to Newman Siena College for the Lifelink Launch for primary schools. Lifelink is an initiative started by Archbishop Hickey, back in 1998, which coordinates the Lifelink Agencies such as Centre Care Inc, The Shopfront, Daydawn Advocacy and others. Lifelink holds various appeals throughout the year to support these agencies- look out for our Lifelink appeal next term!
