The Lion Letter
Weekly Update - 9.13.24 - Issue 6
Back to School Night
Last Wednesday we celebrated Back to School Night with such a wonderful large turn out! We had students, families, and staff join in our Title 1 meeting and learn about our academic goals for this year. Families and students were able to visit their classrooms and teachers presented on our grade level expectations for the school year. Community Partners had resource tables set up to promote healthy habits and towards the end of the night we raffled off prizes and even a bike! What a way to launch the school year!

Introducing our Laurel School Literacy Coach!
Meet Mrs. Hoffman, Laurel’s new Literacy Coach. A literacy coach has five main jobs.
1. Mrs. Hoffman works with teachers to show them new ways to help kids read and write effectively.
2. A literacy coach gives teachers tips on making reading and writing lessons more fun and engaging for students.
3. A literacy coach works with classroom teachers to support struggling readers by offering new strategies and suggestions.
4. They help teachers find the best methods for teaching reading and writing, making sure every student gets what they need to succeed.
5. The literacy coach helps teachers look at how students are doing in reading and writing, so they know what’s working and where students might need more help.
Check Out Our Beautiful New Marquee
With deep gratitude we would to like thank our Oceanside Unified School District School Board for facilitating the replacement of our old marquee (electronic bulletin board). Our old marquee stopped working last year and with much anticipation we were excited to see our new marquee installed this week. Check out the new colorful graphics and communications.
