• We completed a Viking Voyage that was challenging, fun, and full of excitement for most. How can you take the concepts of the Viking Voyage (teamwork, laughter, intrigue, challenge, anticipation) of the Viking Voyage to your classroom and interactions with students this week?
• Are you creating an environment in your classroom and interactions with students you would hope and expect for your kids?
• Establish your routines now! What you permit, you promote!
• Note: Class changes should be completed by Wednesday August 22nd.
• Have your syllabi handed out to each class by Thursday August 23rd at the absolute latest. They should include classroom expectations, finals information, and late work policy.

I try to share a little bit about a book I'm reading. This book in particular is the book study our Building Leadership Team is studying as well. The first important concept of this book is You're the Driver of Your Bus.

• This is the most important of the 10 rules.
• If you don't take control of your bus, you can't take it to where you want to go.
• If you're not the driver, then you will always be at the whim of everyone else's travel plans.
• You can seek directions and advice along the way, but remember it's your trip.
• Too often, people feel like they have have no say where their bus is going or how it's going to get there.
