Update from the Board President
Board President Jayma Bammerlin reported that she and Kate Creager recently participated in the strategic planning process. She noted that it was a positive experience, with strong engagement from the steering committee, which included students, community members, and staff. Bammerlin expressed excitement about what the plan could bring in the coming months.
She also commended the district's progress on the Ohio State Report Card, highlighting the growth from 4 stars last year to 4.5 stars this year. She praised the district's ongoing improvement and solid achievements.
Update from the Superintendent
Dr. Michael celebrated the district's recent success on the State Report Card, which awarded Northridge 4.5 stars out of 5, an increase from the previous year’s 4 stars. She emphasized that this progress reflects the dedication of the staff and teachers, as well as the hard work of the district's students. Dr. Michael reiterated the district's commitment to continually improving for the students' benefit.
She shared that there are 81 teachers this school year, 15 of whom are new to Northridge, resulting in an 81.5% retention rate—consistent with last year’s numbers. Dr. Michael noted the ongoing efforts to ensure teachers feel supported and see Northridge as a place where they can grow and succeed.
Additionally, Dr. Michael released a "Viking Voyage" document outlining the district's communications plan for the year, aiming to ensure broad and effective communication with the community.
She also announced the installation of a dedication plaque at Northridge Elementary School and began discussions about a potential dedication plaque for the new stadium, exploring how it could align with other dedications and advertisements throughout the district.
Treasurer Update
Mr. Lewis presented an updated capital plan to the Board, highlighting its collaborative development among the administration. This plan remains flexible and can adapt to the evolving needs of the School District. In light of recent national school safety concerns, discussions have prioritized security enhancements, moving these items to the forefront of the plan. The Treasurer/CFO also reviewed various district projects and outlined additional priorities, aligning them with the available financial resources to ensure effective funding for these initiatives.
