6th Grade at Walden West
Our 6th grade Bobcats have spent the whole week exploring the great outdoors at Walden West science camp!
Library Time with Ms. Williams
These Bobcats had so much fun with the bilingual book "Don't Hug Doug!" This awesome story included a mix of English, Spanish, and even a little French!
It’s not just a great read—it’s a language adventure! The students loved learning new words and exploring more about the concept of consent while following Doug’s no-hug journey.
First Grade Reading Adventures
"Reading is a passport to countless adventures." – Mary Pope Osborne
Our first-grade readers are working hard to build strong reading habits, both individually and in partnerships! They're unlocking new worlds and adventures with every page!
Santa Rita Camp Out
Thank you to the team of parents that planned and made the first ever Santa Rita Campout a huge success. Over 20 families participated in this parent-sponsored community event. Be on the look out for tickets in this years' auction- they are sure to sell out fast!
LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Santa Rita Families,
As we approach the end of September, I would like to highlight some of our accomplishments. I appreciate the hard work our teachers put into making their classrooms and lessons ready for the 330 Bobcats we welcomed to a new school year. Thank you to our Santa Rita Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for hosting the well-attended Bobcat Chase and Grandfriends’ Day events. Mrs. Williams has begun opening her library to students at lunchtime and with her weekly lessons to help foster a love of reading. We have welcomed a new program to students at lunchtime, with the addition of the Run for Fun coaches, who lead students weekly in group activities. Our front office staff have supported families with registering for school and completing all the required paperwork. Mrs. Watters has begun her daily intervention classes for students who need additional support with reading and writing. Mrs. Martin has begun her English Language Development classes for multilingual students. Thank you to all our volunteers who came onto campus for Living Classroom, Art Docent, and Project Cornerstone this month. I’m proud of our start of school and look forward to the days and months ahead.
I appreciate everyone focusing on ensuring students are getting quality sleep.

The funds raised from Witches' Delight go directly to help enrich your child's education. The funds are used to purchase much needed supplies for our school (technology, P.E. equipment, classroom supplies, and much more).
The event can’t happen without all the helpful volunteers, donated cakes and bringing friends and family to support Santa Rita. We are grateful to each and every one of you!!
Hot off the press!
Read our new 2023-24 Annual Report to see what LAEF funded last school year, view a list of our donors and volunteers, and find out how students benefited from past contributions to LAEF.
THANK YOU to all the families who’ve already contributed to LAEF for the current school year. We appreciate your support early in the year!
LAEF is the only way for parents to fund LASD teaching staff in our district and help fill the gap in school funding from federal, state, and local sources. Our goal for the 2024-25 school year is $2.9 million.
