STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
We are celebrating Staff Appreciation Week in #PointerNation! We can't say thank you enough to our amazing staff for all they have done, and continue to do, for every student every day. As our mission statement says, "Grounded by our history as one of the oldest publicly supported schools in Wisconsin, MPSD is the heart of a small community that educates and inspires our students for a bright future in a big world."
PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR CANDIDATE
We are ecstatic to share that Robert Allbright has been named a Presidential Scholar Candidate by the US Department of Education! The program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. This is one of the nation's highest honors for high school students. Congratulations -- #PointerNation is proud!

STATE COACH OF THE YEAR

EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCES
We'd like to give a special shout out to our students who achieved elite status at the recent Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Solo & Ensemble competition! At the end of the festival day, each adjudicator may select up to two award recipients from the nominated events in their festival site that set themselves apart.

MOCK ACCIDENT
With it being prom and graduation season, 8-12th grade students witnessed a mock accident recently. Multiple emergency agencies showed what happens during a crash, as well as the serious consequences on student lives, as well as their friends, for irresponsible driving and decision making. #PointerNation is grateful to all who participated in this important event!

AUTHOR VISIT
Wednesday was filled with many magical moments with Author Kevin Lovegreen at the elementary! Kevin is an outdoor enthusiast and inspired many to be authors, artists, and to enjoy the great outdoors.
ARBOR DAY
The world celebrated Arbor Day recently -- our 1st graders love learning facts about trees!
ANOTHER AUTHOR VISIT
Thursday was an incredible day to celebrate rockstar readers! Author Pat Zietlow Miller visited and shared her writing process. She left students with the powerful message to never give up!
POINTER CHOIRS PERFORM WELL
#PointerNation was proud to compete at a Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Large Group Festival Wednesday in Southwestern! The Pointers had a fine showing, earning one First Rating and one Second Rating. Congrats to:

Our High School Mixed-Media Art students have finished up their fairy garden projects -- check out the creativity!
AWARD WINNING YEARBOOK
We are excited to share that our 2023-24 Mineral Point Middle School yearbook has achieved the Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence Silver Award! This recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body, while helping students to develop 21st century skills such as collaboration and information/communication technologies literacy. A special kudos to Editors Josie Dunn and Jaycee Privett, along with Adviser Mrs. Kris McCoy, for their hard work on last year's publication!
MAY DAY BASKETS
Who was lucky enough to receive one of these fabulous May Day baskets last week from Kindergarten?!
AUSTRALIA
1st graders traveled to a place that is a country, an island and a continent…Australia! There is so much to explore in the Outback!
UWP STEM EXPO
5th graders were able to experience UW-Platteville's STEM Expo last Thursday! STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math -- students had a great time.
INVENTOR VISIT
Students had the amazing opportunity to have the inventor of the slap bracelet, Stuart Anders, join them to share some of his inventions and tell all about how he came up with these ideas! Every failure is an opportunity to learn. Thank you to Maia Donohue for setting this up for our Pointers.

-- Mineral Point Kids Club is looking for staff to work individually with a student during the Summer Pointer Kids Club program. Staff will need to be comfortable providing support that includes routine personal hygiene, toileting, care of personal assistance devices (communication board and eyeglasses), and supervision and cueing of activities. Staff will work together to support a student's unique needs. Staff will work from 1:00 pm until no later than 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Starting Salary: $16.00 per hour

Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
