WIN B This Week
Students will report to their WIN B groups on both Monday and Tuesday this week. On Monday we will be meeting with our WIN B groups to celebrate our student growth and to provide t-shirts to all students to highlight our growth!
On Tuesday we are asking that all students wear their shirts so that we can participate in a school activity as we go into Thanksgiving Break.
No Study Hall This Week
Due to the Thanksgiving Break, there will be no Study Hall this week. Study Hall will resume next week on Dec. 3rd - 5th.
Expectation Update
We are excited to share an important update regarding our discipline framework that aims to enhance the learning environment for all students. Recent feedback from students has highlighted their frustration with classroom disruptions, which are hindering their educational experience. In response, we have made the decision to refine our disciplinary measures to better support a focused and productive learning atmosphere.
Previously, we simply tracked the number of referrals; however, we are now expanding our approach to include all specific behaviors that may lead to a detention, such as not possessing a responsibility pass, failing to bring a charged Chromebook, classroom disruptions, and other significant conduct issues.
While we will continue to utilize lunch detentions as a consequence, we are implementing a tiered approach. After accumulating five lunch detentions, students will receive an additional consequence, which may either be an after-school detention or a delayed start detention, depending on the week. Upon reaching eight detentions, a secondary consequence will apply, and a meeting with parents will be required. For students who reach ten detentions or more, a one-day suspension will be enacted.
Our primary objective is to foster improved behavioral standards through clear expectations and consequences. We believe these changes will encourage a more conducive learning environment for all students. Importantly, all students will have a fresh start regarding their behavior at the beginning of the second semester, upon our return from winter break.
We appreciate your ongoing support as we strive to create an optimal learning environment for our students.
Responsibility Passes
All students are issued 4 responsibility passes at the start of each marking period. These passes can be used when a student forgets an item for class, is in need of charging their Chromebook or a loaner Chromebook, or needs to use the restroom during class.
Students are able to purchase additional Responsibility Passes for 5 care cards by emailing Mrs. Swift at cswift@ccs.coloma.org. Mrs. Swift will make arrangements with the student to obtain their additional responsibility passes.
