**Second SNOW DAY **
Wentworth students love the snow! We hope they all find some time to play today while staying safe and cozy. A reminder that this is our second (and final) "Traditional Snow Day." This means that per our school calendar and plan, any future school cancellations due to inclement weather will be remote learning days.
Here is a link to the previously communicated Newsletter with more details about our plan for remote learning for Wentworth School. The physical Snow Day Packets were sent home with students on January 10, and we asked that families tuck them away someplace safe until they are needed. We have some extras at the office if yours has been misplaced - just have your child stop by to get a new one.

February Community Day Focus: Being your BEST SELF
This month our RULER focus was a lesson on being your Best Self. At our assembly, students learned Your "Best Self" is the best version of you! For example, when you are kind, helpful, and making good choices. Your Best Self shows up when you are being a good friend, trying your hardest, and treating others with respect.
Everyone has a Best Self inside them! Sometimes, we have big feelings or tough moments, but we can always take a deep breath and remember how we want to act. Thinking about your Best Self can help you make choices that make you and others feel good.
Thinking about your Best Self is an introduction to the RULER tool called "Meta Moment." Next month, students will learn about the Meta Moment, and how to feel good about the choices you make by taking a pause and thinking about your Best Self when navigating a big emotion.
5210...Let's Go! Your Support is Needed
We are proud to continue fostering a healthy and supportive environment for our students here at Wentworth. As part of our ongoing commitment to wellness and our 5210 initiative (5 fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of screen time, 1 hour of physical activity, and 0 sugary drinks), we are requesting that students no longer bring sugary drinks like Starbucks, Aroma Joe's, or Dunkin’ to school in the morning.
These sugary beverages and "energy drinks" are not only inconsistent with our health-focused approach, but they also tend to be easily spilled, creating unnecessary messes in classrooms and hallways. By making this small change, we hope to encourage healthier choices and reduce distractions during the school day. As a reminder, all school meals are offered to students at no cost and breakfast is served daily right in the cafeteria. Students are also able to have a refillable water bottle at school - this is a well-hydrated group of children!
We appreciate your support in helping us promote well-being and ensure a clean and positive school environment for everyone. If your child is begging you to stop for a Frappuccino before school, you can blame me (and then thank me later for saving you almost $10!) and tell your child that can be a weekend or afterschool treat instead. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Field Trip Learning and Fun
Ms. Ledue's math students recently took a wonderful field trip to the Town and Country Federal Credit Union. The Credit Union staff were very impressed with students' calculation capabilities when reviewing loans, percentages, interest, and more. We were appreciative of manager Christie (a former teacher) for her excellence in giving the tour and information and some fun promotional giveaways.
Ms. Ledue shared it was an all around education to the students' personal finance unit.
Lost & Found...and slowly being reclaimed!
Please continue to encourage your child to check for any missing items
A big thank you to our parent volunteers who helped organize the massive piles of lost items! We have moved a display into the middle of the main corridor, spread it out onto tables for easy viewing, and have had a little more success reuniting items with owners. We also returned any labelled items (there were only a small handful) to the students.
**Unclaimed items will be donated (some to our Volunteer Club winter gear drive, some to our clinic as back up gear for students who need it for recess) over February Break.**
A Message from Health Services & the Attendance Committee
Volunteer Club Winter Service Project
Your Donations Needed for Healthy Kids! A Message from the Club Members:
Healthy kids this time of year need warm clothes to be comfy and safe. With your encouragement and kindness, you can help kids in need of winter clothes. Your Wentworth student can help donate winter clothes by bringing in warm winter clothing to school and placing the items in their wing’s donation box. Your kind action will make a huge impact on a child’s life, and all of the clothing collected will be donated to a local shelter. Thank you so much for your incredible effort to help many people.
