Hello ALA Families,
Exciting things are happening at our Elementary! Last night we held our Parent Engagement Night with Mathnasium. We had over 50 families come and it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with you as parents and see so many of our students having fun and learning together through different games and activities. Thank you to Mathnasium for partnering with us to make this night both fun and enriching. We also want to recognize and express gratitude for the service and dedication of our amazing teachers and Jr. High Student Government students who volunteered their time to run the games. A special thanks to Mrs. Sarah Sorensen, whose leadership and commitment to excellence made this Family Engagement Night possible.
This is a shining example of our school’s commitment to Unity and Service as we work together to support our students’ success. If you missed last night's event, we missed you and encourage you to look at coming to our next Family Engagement night on December 12th where we will be doing a Book Give Away and other awesome things. More information will be coming out about this event soon.
Congratulations as well to Jeff Bridgewater, our lucky Parent winner of the $50 Costco gift card!
Another thing that makes us so excited is during last week’s Parent-Teacher Conferences, we set up giving tables filled with extra uniform clothing for the students. We were able to distribute 12 boxes of items, leaving just 11 remaining. It warmed our hearts to see families and our students receive what they needed, reflecting the Service and Unity that makes ALA so special. A special thanks to our wonderful Social Workers, Mrs. Luna and Mrs. Carrasco for all they did to make this happen. They are always looking out for our students!
To continue to grow and better support you and your children, we ask for your feedback. Please fill out our Elementary Feedback Survey, open until Monday, Nov. 25th. Your voice matters and helps us strive for Excellence as we partner with you in your child’s education.
Thank you for your continued support, dedication, and partnership. Together, we RISE UP for the success of our students!

ALA SECONDARY INFORMATION
Note from our Secondary Principal - Amanda Kuhnz
First, thank you to our Veterans! We hope you felt appreciated and loved last week! We were especially appreciative of our teachers, of whom we recognized seven for serving our country in courageous ways.
Second, we are so excited to be halfway through Term 2 because we are seeing such growth in our students. We see the production of outstanding projects and presentations in many classes and impressive performances in our Fine Arts Programs. We invite you to come and see! Come and see our Spirit of Christmas production by our theater groups! Come and see the beginning of our Winter Sports teams as they begin their seasons! Come and see the new high school building addition (we will hold a public opening shortly)! Our students are learning to move to different places So many exciting and brag-worthy accomplishments! Please ask your students to "see" what they are doing!
Third, we want your students to "come." Attend. Be engaged. Be involved. Develop leadership skills. If they aren't attending regularly, please help them. Unless our students are earning A's in all of their classes, we would love to see them more often. We offer support before school, during lunch, after school, and on Fridays. We will remove Unexcused absences and Tardies for attending any of the above. Seniors: please attend so we can see you walk at graduation! Another way we want to help is to ensure you, our parents, are aware of your student's attendance Truancy Letters are being send out. Please contact the Front Office if you receive one so we can meet and come up with a plan to support your student. Here is a great video resource about attendance. Please view it for perspective on the role attendance plays in education.

Fourth, we appreciate you. As vacations approach, we know students are getting restless for the holidays. This may make your job of supporting them with performance and attendance difficult. Our teachers experience the same. We are a team and want to work together to help each other. We encourage you to communicate with our teachers to make this happen.
Thank you for all of your continued support at ALA
