Dear St. Joseph Families,
Welcome back! We’ve hit the ground running after Spring Break, ready to dive into these final eight weeks of the school year. It's been a busy week of learning, testing, and professional development. Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening around our school:
ARK Testing
This week marked the beginning of ARK testing for students in grades 2-8. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be assessing our students’ knowledge of religion. We encourage everyone to continue supporting your child’s learning at home as we wrap up this important assessment period.
Physical Fitness Testing
Our students in grades K-8 have also been participating in physical fitness testing this week. They’ve been tested on a variety of skills, including sit-ups, the sit-and-reach test, the mile run, and the PACER test. It’s always great to see the students challenging themselves and giving their best effort.
Professional Development for Teachers
Today, we had a 1:00 PM dismissal. Many of our students had the chance to visit the skate center, while our teachers participated in professional development sessions. Mr. Stan Arington, Coach Tays' father, led the session for our teachers at Auburn's Fisheries Center. The focus was on aquaponics and how to incorporate it into our classrooms. We’re excited to see how the teachers will integrate this knowledge into their lessons! The PreK-1st grade classes will be focusing on growing flowers, and both the 3rd and 6th grades will be receiving aquaponic systems to grow plants and raise fish. We can’t wait for the students to see firsthand how these systems work and to watch their learning bloom (literally!).
Upcoming Events
Next week is shaping up to be just as busy! On Tuesday, our students will be heading to UNA for a performance of "Dragons and Mythical Beasts." It promises to be a fun and educational experience for everyone. That afternoon, our junior high will have their last tennis match of the year versus Muscle Shoals.
On Thursday, our 7th and 8th graders will take the National Spanish Exam, and we’re confident they will do great!
Don't forget that tonight is PTO's Family Bingo night at 6:15 pm in the school libary. Come support the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry before, and then, enjoy a little Bingo with the family.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting and productive end to the school year. Please reach out if you have any questions or need further information.
Sincerely in Christ,
Mrs. Courtney Magee
