Dear Zion family –

It’s been a great opening week at Zion Lutheran School. We welcomed 250 students onto our campus, which is our largest enrollment ever, and they are ready and excited to learn. Continue to pray for this amazing ministry.

Considering the continued growth in both our church and school, a Master Planning Committee has been formed and is considering options for future expansion of our facilities. Recently, they conducted a survey and will be sharing some of the results soon. Be on the lookout for more to come!

This Sunday is Move-Up Sundae! Our Kid's Connect children’s ministry students will be moving up grades this Sunday and, to celebrate, we’ll be serving up ice cream sundaes. Join us in the lobby after the 8 am service and before the 10:45 am for a delicious frozen treat with all sorts of delectable toppings.

This weekend is also our Blessing of the Backpacks. Students are invited to bring their school backpacks to worship, and we’ll have a special children’s message where we’ll pass out backpack tags that will help them share their faith with others.

Finally, we’ll be honoring our educators by commissioning our teachers and school staff who work at Zion, as well as recognizing other educators who work at schools across our area.

In this weekend’s message, we’ll continue our series on the book of Exodus and look at the instructions God gives to the Israelites to build Him a throne called the Ark of the Covenant. These instructions are found in Exodus 25:10, 17, 21-22:

“Have them make an ark of acacia wood – two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. Make an atonement cover of pure gold – two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. Place the cover on top of the ark and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law that I will give you. There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all My commands for the Israelites.”

LINC Austin Outreach provides feet-on-the-ground mobile outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness. Our mobile outreach team provides friendship, hope and mentorship along with much needed basic needs and Case Management.

The Women of Wisdom initiative is dedicated to offering heartfelt support and encouragement, fostering a warm and welcoming environment where women can build lasting friendships with others who share similar challenges. Through this community, we aim to inspire one another and gently guide each other closer to God. Our purpose is to provide a space where women can come together, share their experiences, and gather ideas for future events and programs that align with our faith journey.

The Parlor Bible Study (Sunday mornings 9:30 A.M-10:30 A.M) is fully into the Apostles' Creed. Many of us placed Luther's Small Catechism on the shelf after confirmation, but there is so much we may have forgotten. This is an opportunity to return to the book that helped us realize the truths about the Holy Trinity: a mystery made known throughout the Bible.

Zion’s Mission Board is once again excited to be hosting family camp weekend later this fall. We only have a limited number of RV and tent campsites left from Thursday, October 10th through Monday, October 14th at Caddo Lake State Park in East Texas. Families are welcome to join us at camp as early as Thursday and can stay through till Monday – or anytime in between. The weekend will include fellowship, worship, and food as well as ample free time for families to experience together some of the wonderful activities that the surrounding area has to offer. Breakfast and dinner will be provided on Saturday and Sunday. All other meals are on your own to provide. The total cost covering all four nights per family is $50 per RV/tent site. Tuesday Morning Women's Bible Study begins September 17th at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Jeanne Smith, l04 Dawson Trail, Georgetown, 78633 (Sun City).
