Principal's Message
We look forward to seeing you at conferences next week. Thank you for your patience as we adjusted the technical issues with the sign ups. Since there was a delay, Parent Conference Sign Ups will close on November 12th at 3:00. As mentioned, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's Team Leader.
Best,
Christina & Emily
Our PBIS Committee has planned a Spirit Day for Tuesday, November 12, to show appreciation to our Veterans. Students are asked to wear Red, White, and Blue. As an extra incentive, any homeroom with all students wearing those colors will earn 5 points toward their grade-level team.

8th Grade Transition
We appreciate everyone who was able to attend our 8th Grade Parent Night. This is an exciting milestone for our students, and we’re thrilled to partner with you to provide the best support for your student and family during this transition. As we move through the year, we’ll keep you informed at each step of the way, with updates shared through the Panther Post and Parentsquare.
This week, each student received a handout for you to review, sign, and return. Please have your student bring the signed form back to their homeroom teacher by Friday, November 15th.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. For your convenience, I’ve attached both the presentation from the parent night and a digital copy of the handout.
Please see the link below with a letter from Eric Verner, the Principal of East Hampton High School, inviting you to an orientation taking place for parents on November 19th at 6:00.
A Look Into Our Panther Community
In 8th grade math, we kicked off a new unit focused on Linear Relationships. Throughout this unit, students will develop a deeper understanding of key concepts like slope, rate of change, and the constant of proportionality. They will explore how these concepts are interconnected and how they can be used to describe real-world situations.
Eighth-grade students are concluding their dystopian book clubs with a creative journaling project. This week, they were tasked with synthesizing insights from their readings into a two-page, purposeful journal entry. Drawing on notes and ideas about setting, characters, systemic obstacles, and real-world connections, students crafted entries that encapsulate the themes and essence of their novels.
Positive Office Referrals
Below are students who have received Positive Office Referrals for their behaviors that have exemplified our PBIS pillars of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion and Pride. Students were able to choose a reward from our menu of options like eating outside with friends or prizes that we have. Great job!

Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!
We are excited to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair will be here next week! Based on parent feedback, we have made a change to our fair to allow students to make purchases during the school day.
On Friday November 8th, students received a flier and a Book Fair Wish List that we are asking students to bring home to complete with you. We encourage you to talk with your child about their wish lists. Please confirm if you’d like to approve purchases in advance or if your student has permission to choose items on their own. Students are to bring their wish lists with them when making a purchase at the Book Fair. If a student does not bring their signed wish list, they will not be able to purchase
During ELA classes on November 12th & 13th, students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair and purchase books from their wish lists. We ask that student come prepared with a signed wish list during this time, in order to purchase books. There will be additional times throughout the week where students can bring a signed wish list in order to buy books if they do not have it with their ELA class. Books can also be purchased online.
Linked is a Book Preview that showcases the selection features at most Book Fairs. This preview contains a digital book flier, downloadable “blurbs” about Scholastic’s featured books along with video trailers for these featured books.
Even if you are not attending conferences, you can still come visit the fair to make a purchase. The book fair will be open for purchasing during the following times:
Wednesday November 13th - 1:00 - 5:00
Thursday November 14th - 1:00 - 7:30
In addition, students will have the rest of the week to make purchases during the school day. An online payment option, eWallet, is a new digital payment option which allows students to shop cash-free!
Can’t make it to the Book Fair? Shop The EHMS Scholastic Store™ online to choose from over 6,000 products! From November 11th through November 24th, purchases during this time will directly support our library.

Nurse's Corner
Friendly reminders from your school nurse:
*School field trips are starting to pop up! Please make sure I have your child's medication/s in the health office so that they may participate.
*There are lots of germs going around right now so please remember to keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Even if it's just for the morning so you can reevaluate and send them to school if they have improved. Reminder that you should be fever-free for 24 hours to return to school WITHOUT fever reducing medication. Students must be able to keep food and fluids down (without vomiting or diarrhea) in order to return.
Thank you for your continued support!
Attendance Reminder
Per the East Hampton Board of Education’s Attendance Policy and Connecticut statute, parents and guardians may only approve the first 9 absences of the school year with a parent note. Absences 10 and above can only be excused with further documentation and under specific circumstances.
In addition, if a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
