MID YEAR PROGRESS REPORTING
Sometime this week, you will receive an email containing information about your student's academic and assessment progress from the first half of the school year. The email comes from westada-registration=phoenixlearning.com@powerschool.westada.org and will contain a secure link to a report card document. It will also contain steps on how to access the assessment progress report in your PowerSchool account.
Your email provider may see this email as spam, so if you do not receive it in your Inbox by this weekend, check your Spam/Junk folder. If you do not receive an email at all, you can access the information without the email by going into your PowerSchool account and clicking on "Historical Documents". Academic progress will be in the "Report Cards and Transcripts" folder. Assessment progress will be in the "Learning Progress" folder. Emails will be sent to contacts in SchoolForms. If no email arrives, please check that your email is accurate in SchoolForms.
To access your students progress report, select "Historical Documents" in PowerSchool (see image below).
SAFETY
Handicap Accessible Spaces
We have been seeing many families utilizing the handicap spaces throughout the day. Please make sure you are only using these areas if you truly need this accommodation, as we have had employees and guest who need this support unable to access these spaces.
We appreciate your help and support with this matter.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Cold and Flu Season
With cold and flu season upon us, here are some quick reminders for when students should remain home:
- Fever greater than 100.0 degrees: A fever lets us know that our body is fighting an infection. We are contagious during this time and need rest. Students should be fever free for at least 24 hours, without fever reducing medication, before returning to school.
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea: Students should stay home for 24 hours without vomiting diarrhea before returning to school to make sure they can keep food/liquids down.
- Sore throat with a fever greater than 100.0 degrees: Students should stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If they are diagnosed with Strep throat, then they should stay home until they have been on the prescribed antibiotics and are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
- Students should stay home if they have a new onset persistent cough in which they are coughing so much it keeps them from participating in class or disrupts their classmates. Student may return when their cough is no longer disruptive to the educational environment and/or the student is cleared to return to school by their health care provider.
*There may be exceptions. Please contact your school nurse with any questions.

Head Lice Reminders
HEAD LICE are tiny insects that live on the human body, typically found in the hair. They spread by head to head contact or sharing clothing or personal items like hats/brushes. Lice move by crawling and are spread by direct contact with the HAIR of an infected person. Lice cannot hop, jump, or fly.
With winter months here and the additional clothing that is brought to school, lice can become a concern, especially when students begin to share coats or hats, or when coats are piled. We have reminded staff about limiting any coat piles and also ask that you remind your child about not piling or sharing coats and hats or sharing brushes.
Although these little critters are a nuisance, student may attend school. Treatment with a lice shampoo and removal of all nits is recommended. Click here for additional information.

ATTENDANCE
New this year, we have an automated system for calls! Don't worry, we are still answering calls as the first option; we know talking to someone right away is important. However, after business hours our phone to immediately change to an automated system. During business hours, the automated voicemail system will pick up after 4 rings, indicating that the front office staff is either on the phone or helping someone in the office.
You will have the option of the following when the automated system answers:
Press 1 for Office
Press 2 for Attendance
Press 3 for Health Office
Press 4 for Transportation
If you are simply calling to report your child's attendance, you may call 208-350-4498.
