Board Approves Pay Raises for the 2024 - 25 School Year
The Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees has approved a three percent salary increase for all employees for the 2024 - 25 school year.
"Giving a raise to our staff is more than a pay increase; it's recognition of the time and effort they put in to support our students and their commitment to excellence. We know how hard they work. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we appreciate you and are grateful we can offer all our staff a three percent pay increase," said Board President Crystal Phalen.
The board approved the pay raise at its regular board meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. The pay increase is based on the employee's current base salary, which does not include stipends.
"We appreciate our school board for recognizing the hard work and dedication of our staff. Our staff goes above and beyond to ensure students have access to all educational opportunities and advancement. We see that in our classrooms, athletics, and fine arts. Our staff works hard to educate the whole child, making Jarrell ISD a destination district," said Superintendent Dr. Toni Hicks.
The district is hiring for all positions for the upcoming school year. Job postings are available at www.jarrellisd.org/employment.

Jarrell Middle School Teacher Quarterfinalist for America's Favorite Teacher
Alexandria Krause is a 6th-grade teacher at Jarrell Middle School. For the past three years, she has created engaging lesson plans and innovative teaching methods that spark curiosity and critical thinking among her students. Those teaching methods positioned Krause as a top contender in a national teaching contest! She is a quarterfinalist in America's Favorite Teacher Competition.
Since the beginning of her teaching career, Alexandria has been more than just an educator. She has built and established strong student-teacher relationships, taking the time to mentor and guide students in their academics and extracurricular activities. Her dedication to their growth and learning is a testament to her commitment to education.
"I just want to do this for Jarrell and Brooklynn Miller. The kids and the community took a terrible loss at the beginning of the year, and I want to show the world that when you are faced with Goliath, you can't back down from a fight. It's been a stressful competition, but I'm always one to put up a fight," Krause said.
There are about 150 teachers competing against Krause.
